Fortunately for Jets fans, there are two assistants he has previously worked with who remain intriguing options to bring to Florham Park, N.J.

Mike Bercovici

Mike Bercovici, 32, joined the NFL coaching ranks in 2020 as an offensive assistant after a few years as a practice squad QB. After three years in Arizona, Reich hired the Arizona State product to serve in that same role during the 2023 season on his staff in Carolina.

While Reich was canned after a disastrous 1-10 start with the Panthers and much of his staff was let go after that season, Bercovici was one of the few coaches retained by Dave Canales, Reich’s successor.

Before the 2025 season, Canales promoted Bercovici as Carolina’s assistant quarterbacks coach and pass-game specialist.

Under his watch in 2025, the Panthers were NFC South division champions and remained highly respectable against the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs, losing 34-31.

Beyond that, Bryce Young delivered a career-best season, statistically speaking. He set career-highs in completion percentage (63.6%), passing yards (3,011), passing touchdowns (23), and passer rating (87.8).

The 32-year-old is an up-and-coming coach with a direct connection to Reich, making him a perfect fit for the Jets as their quarterbacks coach.

Duce Staley

Duce Staley, 50, is highly regarded across the league and has overseen several successful rushing attacks at the NFL level.

Reich and Staley overlapped during Staley’s ten-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles (2011-20) while Reich served as the Eagles’ OC from 2016-17.

Reich also brought the 50-year-old with him to Carolina in 2023, where Staley served as the Panthers’ running backs coach and assistant head coach.

Staley also has a connection with Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, as Staley served as a Detroit Lions’ assistant head coach and running backs coach under Dan Campbell from 2021-22, while Glenn was Detroit’s DC during that span.

Serving as the Cleveland Browns’ running backs coach in 2025, second-round rookie Quinshon Judkins rushed for 827 yards under his watch, which ranked second among rookie backs, trailing only No. 6 overall pick Ashton Jeanty’s 975. Jeanty also had 36 more touches.

Looking back on his time in Detroit, Staley played an instrumental role in D’Andre Swift’s development and helped veteran Jamaal Williams produce his best statistical season, including 17 rushing touchdowns and 1,066 rushing yards in 2022.

He has overseen a series of successful rushing attacks and has even been considered for offensive coordinator in the past few seasons.

There is a real possibility that Staley could become available this offseason following the coaching change in Cleveland. The Browns parted ways with Kevin Stefanski and named Todd Monken their new head coach, a shift that could lead to further staff turnover.

While the Jets retained running backs coach Nic McKissic-Luke after his first season in the role, if Staley hits the market, New York must consider making a change.

Adding a coach of Staley’s caliber would represent a clear upgrade and is a move the Jets should strongly consider if, indeed, he shakes loose.

While the New York Jets have secured their offensive coordinator for 2026, Frank Reich, the team’s offensive coaching…

[2051
1585,7,6494,3228,226,1917,255,2321,2097,6,4403,6531,7823,3234
0":"post-739331","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york-jets","8":"tag-aaron-glenn","9":"tag-football","10":"tag-frank-reich","11":"tag-free-content","12":"tag-jets","13":"tag-new-york","14":"tag-new-york-jets","15":"tag-newyork","16":"tag-newyorkjets","17":"tag-nfl","18":"tag-ny-jets-coaches","19":"tag-ny-jets-column","20":"tag-ny-jets-image","21":"tag-standard
["GET
