After a first down run by Kenneth Walker to move the chains, Sam Darnold found a pair of downfield completions to move inside the red zone. New England\u2019s defense then held strong from there to force a field goal. [Patriots 0 : 3 Seahawks]<\/p>\n
New England\u2019s first drive of the day started with three straight touches for Rhamondre Stevenson, including a third-down conversion through the air. After a 12-yard scramble by Maye then set up a 3rd-and-9 after a sack, a blitz off the blindside resulted in a throwaway and punt.<\/p>\n
Seattle\u2019s next drive started back up at their own 10-yard line. Immediately facing a 3rd-and-6, Darnold escaped a blitzing Jaylinn Hawkins but missed a wide open Jaxon Smith-Njigba downfield forcing a punt.<\/p>\n
A play-action under center pass out of six their O-line group to Kayshon Boutte started the Patriots next drive with a 21-yard gain. Two straight touches to TreVeyon Henderson then set up a 3rd-and-15, where a Seattle blitz got home again for a sack. New England then punted again.<\/p>\n
Behind another good punt by Bryce Baringer and coverage by Dell Pettus, Seattle again started inside their own 20. Two run stuffs then set up a 3rd-and-7, where a check down to Barner moved the chains. A big TFL by Craig Woodson and then a pass breakup got Seattle back into a 3rd-and-15 in which Darnold\u2019s pass was incomplete leading to a punt.<\/p>\n
New England continued to struggle to move the football on their next drive, as an incompletion to an open Hunter Henry was followed by a third-down run stop on Stevenson. New England punted again.<\/p>\n
Following a big time pass breakup downfield by Christian Gonzalez, running back Kenneth Walker found the edge to break free for 30 yards. Two plays later, Walker found running room again escaping for 29 more to move inside the red zone. With Seattle then facing a 3rd-and-12, a pitch to Walker went for a loss again thanks to Woodson. With the deficit now six, a long developing second-down sack forced the Patriots into a 3rd-and-17, where a screen to Stefon Diggs went for just five and another punt.<\/p>\n
Kenneth Walker picked up a pair of first downs to get the Seahawks over midfield. A third down incompletion to Walker then forced a punt by Seattle, which was downed at the 2-yard line.<\/p>\n
Backed up on their own end zone, Maye converted a big third-down to DeMario Douglas for a 9-yard gain. Back in a third-and-long after a false start by Will Campbell, Maye uncorked one downfield in a muddy pocket that fell incomplete to Mack Hollins.<\/p>\n
Working over midfield prior to the two-minute warning, Seattle converted a 3rd-and-2 on the ground with 32 seconds remaining. Set up with another 3rd-and-short after using their final timeouts, Darnold\u2019s pass to JSN in the end zone was broken up and nearly intercepted by Gonzalez. With six seconds left in the half, Drake Maye took a knee.<\/p>\n
New Englands first drive of the second half followed a similar trend as the first half, as they punted after Maye\u2019s third-down throw was incomplete to a smothered Kayshon Boutte.<\/p>\n
Seattles first drive of the half started with chunk gains through the air to Shaheed and JSN, before Darnold escaped Milton Williams and Co. to move the chains again with his legs. Over midfield, a screen to Walker picked up 20 more yards to set Seattle up just outside the red zone. There facing 3rd-and-9, New England brought all-out pressure and saw Darnold\u2019s pass to Kupp fall incomplete. Jason Myers added his fourth field goal of the game. A 9-yard first down run by Henderson was all the Patriots managed on their next drive as Henderson was stuffed before Maye\u2019s pass to Douglas was incomplete. Baringer punted again.<\/p>\n
A first-down sack by Milton Williams and a blown up screen by Marcus Jones out Seattle in a 3rd-and-14, where a handoff resulted in a quick three-and-out.<\/p>\n
The Patriots\u2019 next possession quickly ended in a punt as well, as Maye could not overcome a first-down sack and his third-down pass to Kayshon Boutte fell incomplete.<\/p>\n
A run stuff and pass breakup by Gonzalez then forced Seattle into a third-and-long, where New England got off the field again as Darnold\u2019s pass was complete but short of the sticks. Meanwhile, Smith-Njigba left the field for the locker room with an apparent injury.<\/p>\n
New England finally picked up a first-down on their next drive as Stefon Diggs drew a hold as Maye escaped with his legs. That was all, however, as Maye was stripped-sacked on third down and saw Seattle recover.<\/p>\n
Taking over at the Patriots 37 following the turnover, Seattle picked up a first play first-down to Barner. Facing a 3rd-and-9, Darnold found Kupp on an out-breaker to move the chains inside and set up inside the red zone. One play later, Darnold found a wide open Barner off play action in the end zone for the games first touchdown. [Patriots 0 : 19 Seahawks]<\/p>\n
Drake Maye finally found his explosives on the Patriots next drive. After a perfectly placed layered throw over the middle to Mack Hollins for 24 yards, Maye went right back to the receiver down the left sideline for a 35-yard touchdown. [Patriots 7 : 19 Seahawks]<\/p>\n
After picking up an opening first-down, Seattle faced a 3rd-and-11. From the gun, Darnold hung in against all-out pressure and overthrew Shaheed downfield. New England forced another punt.<\/p>\n
Starting backed up at their own four-yard line, New England found some breathing room with a swing pass to Stevenson to move the chains. Then facing a 3rd-and-6, Maye took off up the middle as the pocket parted for 16 yards. The progress then was stopped, as Maye went deep downfield and saw his pass over the middle intercepted.<\/p>\n
A 35-yard return started Seattle in New England territory where Walker found 24 yards on his first two carries to move in the red zone. There facing a 3rd-and-7, Darnold\u2019s pass was complete for just three yards Myers added another field goal to extend the lead to 15. [Patriots 7 : 22 Seahawks]<\/p>\n
A first-down sack put New England behind the chains again and eventually into a 3rd-and-8. From the gun, Maye found Hunter Henry over the middle for a 16-yard gain. The next play, Maye was hit as he was thrown and Uchenna Nwosu corralled the loose ball and returned it for a touchdown.
