{"id":743554,"date":"2026-02-10T23:38:18","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T23:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/743554\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T23:38:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T23:38:18","slug":"colts-predicted-to-replace-alec-piece-with-30-td-weapon-in-free-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/743554\/","title":{"rendered":"Colts Predicted to Replace Alec Piece With 30-TD Weapon in Free Agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"780\" height=\"439\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-2254430773-e1770751018401.jpg\" class=\"attachment-featured-image size-featured-image wp-post-image\" alt=\"Christian Kirk\"   decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGetty\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The Colts may have to replace a key offensive weapon<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/\" title=\"NFL\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"164157\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL<\/a> Free Agency is slowly approaching, with teams starting to decide who will be the main priority to retain or acquire.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/indianapolis-colts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Indianapolis Colts<\/a> will likely focus on resigning <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/daniel-jones\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Jones<\/a> as the number one priority, who helped lead the team to a 7-1 record and was also on track to have his best season as a professional football player.<\/p>\n<p>Due to limited resources for the upcoming offseason, including not having a first-round pick in this year\u2019s draft after using it to trade for cornerback <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/sauce-gardner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sauce Gardner<\/a>, Indy will be limited in the moves the team can make.<\/p>\n<p>The Colts have multiple key players on expiring contracts, but due to financial constraints, are unlikely to retain them.<\/p>\n<p>One of those players is <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/alec-pierce\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alec Pierce<\/a>, who recorded his first 1,000-yard season despite having three different quarterbacks throwing to him.<\/p>\n<p>The wide receiver is set to become a free agent in the upcoming offseason, with the Colts likely moving forward without him and having to find a replacement.<\/p>\n<p>Signing Former All-Rookie<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5722923\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5722923\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/MixCollage-19-Jan-2026-05-51-PM-1461-e1768866708522.jpg\" alt=\"Christian Kirk, Houston Texans\" width=\"782\" height=\"441\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5722923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyThe Colts may have to go out and sign a new receiving threat<\/p>\n<p>Alec Pierce was the best-performing receiver on the Indianapolis Colts this season, having the most receiving yards and the second-most touchdown receptions on the team.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/news\/nfl-free-agent-rankings-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Pro Football Focus<\/a> names Pierce as the 10th-best free agent and projects that the former second-round draft pick will get a four-year, $96 million contract in the offseason.<\/p>\n<p>The Colts will have around $35.5 million in cap space, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/overthecap.com\/salary-cap\/indianapolis-colts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Over the Cap<\/a>, which puts the team in a difficult place to extend the wide receiver.<\/p>\n<p>Fox Sports reporter Greg Auman predicts that <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/houston-texans\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Texans<\/a> wide receiver Christian <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/christian-kirk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kirk<\/a> could be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/stories\/nfl\/2026-nfl-free-agency-top-100-players-available-potential-fits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">possible replacement<\/a> for Pierce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-d04fc069=\"\">\u201cKirk, 29, disappeared for much of the 2025 season in Houston, then flashed in the playoffs, with eight catches for 144 yards and a touchdown in a win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/pittsburgh-steelers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">[Pittsburgh] Steelers<\/a>. He\u2019d totaled 104 yards in the previous nine games, mind you, but some team will think they can bring back 2022 Kirk \u2014 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns with the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/jacksonville-jaguars\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">[Jacksonville] Jaguars<\/a>,\u201d Auman wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-d04fc069=\"\">\u201cHe\u2019ll likely cost a third of the $18 million a year he got on his last contract, so there\u2019s a chance for value. Perhaps to the Colts if Alec Pierce takes a big payday elsewhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-v-d04fc069=\"\">This is good news for Indy, who will need a proven wide receiver if Pierce were to leave the organization.<\/p>\n<p data-v-d04fc069=\"\">Christian Kirk has recorded five seasons with 600 receiving yards or more, which could benefit the Colts, as multiple players are also entering the final year of their current contracts next season.<\/p>\n<p data-v-d04fc069=\"\">The wide receiver has accrued over 5,000 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns throughout his career.
