The Eagles need to figure out a way to open up the middle of the field for their offense, and Njoku could help them do that.”

Njoku announced on social media that he will not return to Cleveland in 2026 and will find a new home in free agency.

The 29-year-old lost his starting spot taken in 2025 to Harold Fannin Jr., who figures to be the Browns’ long-term starter at tight end after a promising rookie season.

Goedert isn’t the only Eagles tight end entering free agency, as Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson could also be elsewhere next season. That means Philadelphia could be in for a reset at tight end, with Njoku being a potential option.

Though Njoku had a down year in 2025, posting just 293 receiving yards, the Miami product has proved to be a dynamic weapon when at his best.

In his last fully healthy season in 2023, Njoku tallied 882 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 81 receptions, earning a Pro Bowl selection. The 2017 first-round pick posted 505 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games in 2024.

Njoku will be cheap to sign, and would be a nice fit in the Eagles’ offense as a savvy security blanket for quarterback Jalen Hurts. He would also be a valuable piece to the rushing attack as a run blocker, creating holes for superstar running back Saquon Barkley.

Philadelphia is slated to have $20 million in cap space and should have a bit more by the start of free agency. Signing Njoku, who is projected to land a deal worth $10 million annually, per Spotrac, would be a logical move from Eagles general manager Howie Roseman if he can’t retain Goedert.

More NFL News

Eagles could replace Dallas Goedert with $54 million former Pro Bowler originally appeared on The Sporting News.
