{"id":743684,"date":"2026-02-11T01:05:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T01:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/743684\/"},"modified":"2026-02-11T01:05:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T01:05:21","slug":"report-nfl-confirms-the-bears-will-not-get-comp-picks-for-losing-ian-cunningham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/743684\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: NFL confirms the Bears will not get comp picks for losing Ian Cunningham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/bears-didnt-get-picks-for-ian-cunningham-hire-because-matt-ryan-is-falcons-primary-football-executive\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk<\/a>, who emailed the NFL for confirmation, the Chicago Bears will not receive compensatory draft picks for losing assistant general manager Ian Cunningham to the Atlanta Falcons, where he will serve as their general manager.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1teeyfa8 ls9zuh1\">\u201cThe policy for receiving picks pertains to the head coach or the primary football executive,\u201d the NFL told PFT on Tuesday via email. \u201cThe primary football executive position was filled by Matt Ryan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">This was the expectation all along, since Matt Ryan was hired to be the Falcons\u2019 president of football, a position Cunningham also interviewed for.
