The portion of the NFL offseason in between the Super Bowl and the onset of free agency is the perfect time for predictions.<\/p>\n

During this brief annual period, fans everywhere are optimistic and excited about what kind of additions their team will make over the offseason. Here\u2019s a prediction that Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> fans will like \u2013 or maybe not.<\/p>\n

Chargers predicted to sign Brandon Aiyuk over the offseason<\/p>\n

In an article entitled \u201c10 crazy 2026 NFL offseason predictions,\u201d Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports<\/a> suggested that the Chargers could land former All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in free agency to provide quarterback Justin Herbert with another weapon on the outside.<\/p>\n

Aiyuk, who missed the entirety of the 2025 season and more than half of the \u201924 campaign due to a serious knee injury, is expected to be released by the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> after falling out with the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Los Angeles Chargers are undergoing a change in offensive philosophy in swapping Greg Roman for Mike McDaniel at coordinator. It’s clear that the Chargers need to upgrade the depth on the offensive line, but they could be in the market for a new weapon, too,\u201d Dajani wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing his release from the San Francisco 49ers, Aiyuk will sign with the Chargers to help Justin Herbert reach that next level. Aiyuk turns 28 in March, and missed all of last season as he recovered from the torn ACL suffered in October 2024. \u2026 In L.A., Aiyuk finds an offense ready to take off.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chargers will certainly have the cap space to add Aiyuk. But, given the way things transpired in San Francisco combined with his recent injury history, he will be a bit of a risk for any team that signs him.<\/p>\n

However, he\u2019s still just 27 years old. So, in theory, he should still have a lot of good football in front of him. Plus, last time he played a full season in 2023, he had over 1,300 receiving yards and was named Second Team All Pro. That player could still be in there, and just in need of a fresh start.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day the Chargers, or any other team interested in Aiyuk, will have to decide if the potential reward outweighs the risk. Ultimately, someone will surely decide that it does.<\/p>\n
