swiped Burfict\u2019s hand off Brown\u2019s shoulder.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\nFrom there, things escalated.<\/p>\n
Bengals defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry and Burfict got into it with Porter. Then, out of nowhere, Pacman Jones came flying in, pushing Porter, leading to a second 15-yard penalty on the Bengals, who were already dealing with a 15-yard penalty for Burfict\u2019s hit on Brown.<\/p>\n
Those penalties helped turn a Steelers 1st and 10 at the Cincinnati 47-yard line into a 1st and 10 at the Cincinnati 17 with 18 seconds left in the game. Boswell later booted a 37-yard field goal to ultimately win the game.<\/p>\n
Jones, of course, believes he barely touched Porter. But all these years later, the former Bengals cornerback still can\u2019t come to grips with the fact that Porter was on the field in the first place.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s talk about the main part of the game, twin. The goddamn fumble, and your ass coming on the field. Them are two things,\u201d Jones said of that crazy ending.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s referring to the Jeremy Hill fumble late in the fourth quarter right after Burfict had picked off a pass that ultimately should have sealed the win. Hill\u2019s fumble, forced by linebacker Ryan Shazier, gave the Steelers late life.<\/p>\n
They took advantage of it, leading to the crash out from Burfict and Jones.<\/p>\n
And it all started due to Porter complimenting Burfict.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, \u2018I like your game. I like how you get down man,’\u201d Porter said he recalls saying, which matches what he said last June on Heyward\u2019s podcast.<\/p>\n
Jones didn\u2019t believe him.<\/p>\n
\u201cMan, that\u2019s cap. Pull the video,\u201d Jones said. \u201cAin\u2019t no way he talking to all nice to us during the game. He was just already about to beat [Paul] Guenther\u2019s ass.\u201d<\/p>\n
A back and forth between the two ensued. Porter said that Bengals defensive lineman Geno Atkins heard the whole conversation and agreed with him at the Pro Bowl regarding what happened, and that it all started because Porter gave a compliment and Burfict flew off the handle. Jones surprisingly agreed with the former Steelers coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is what happened. And then I came into the conversation,\u201d Jones said. \u201cThat\u2019s how he got pushed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eventually, the clip was pulled up on the show and Porter and Jones broke it down in real time.<\/p>\n
Once again Jones questioned why Porter was on the field in the first place. For Porter, Jones was focused on the wrong thing, and it cost not only him, but his team in the playoffs, too.<\/p>\n
All these years later, Jones still can\u2019t wrap his mind around why Porter was on the field as a coach.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a good question, but Jones should have handled himself better in the heat of the moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe ain\u2019t have no beef; it was just the game,\u201d Jones said of the moment with Porter.<\/p>\n
