Early on in the 2026 NFL offseason, the Minnesota Vikings have seen plenty of change, especially at the top of the organization, where general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah<\/a> lost his job.<\/p>\n At the top of the coaching food chain, the Vikings still look the same. Wes Phillips is the offensive coordinator. After concern they\u2019d lose defensive coordinator Brian Flores, he decided to return on a massive new deal<\/a> that most head coaches around the league would be jealous of.<\/p>\n Deeper down the coaching depth chart, however, Minnesota has been shuffling their staff on both sides of the ball. On defense, the Vikings retained Brian Flores but lost DB coach and defensive pass game coordinator, Daronte Jones, to the Washington Commanders, where he was named defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, offensive line coach Chris Kuper is now in Philly, replaced by<\/a> his assistant Keith Carter, who comes with his own history. Last week, the Vikings also lost tight ends coach and pass game coordinator, Brian Angelichio, to Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n Tony Sorrentino leaves MN Vikings for Arizona Cardinals<\/p>\n While most coaching vacancies across the league have already been filled, the MN Vikings weren\u2019t quite done losing staff members as of Wednesday evening when news broke that assistant WR coach Tony Sorrentino is being hired away as the next Arizona Cardinals wide receiver coach.<\/p>\n The Arizona Cardinals are hiring Minnesota Vikings Assistant WRs coach Tony Sorrentino as their WRs coach.<\/p>\n Sorrentino has been in Minnesota for 4 years, working with WRs Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, and now will be with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson. @ESPNNFL<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/SrsgJcVoDr<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Peter Schrager (@PSchrags) February 12, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n As an assistant for the Vikings, Sorrentino worked behind Keenan McCardell, who\u2019s one of the higher-ranking and well-respected<\/a> assistants on Minnesota\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n Tony spent three seasons with the Vikings, under McCardell. Before landing in the Twin Cities, he spent three years<\/a> at the collegiate level working with Northern Illinois.<\/p>\n Related: Former Vikings OC Had Impressive Playcalling Debut Sunday<\/a><\/p>\n The Cardinals used the 4th overall pick on Harrison Jr. in 2024, who has struggled in his first two seasons, partly due to injuries. Last season, Harrison recorded 608 yards<\/a> and four touchdowns in 12 games.<\/p>\n Going forward, it\u2019s Sorrentino\u2019s job to get the best out of one of the most talented wide receivers to ever be drafted. This, despite the Cards\u2019 questions at QB.<\/p>\n Cardinals could provide MN Vikings-type problems for Sorrentino<\/p>\n This season Sorrentino had a front row seat to the mistake that was banking on J.J. McCarthy<\/a>. He\u2019s now headed to Arizona where Kyler Murray plays, but that may not be for long either. The talented veteran is a logical trade candidate, and Minnesota could be a fit<\/a>.<\/p>\n Over the next month, the Minnesota Vikings will need to make some serious decisions regarding the quarterback position. For now McCarthy will be back, but certainly involved in a competition. It\u2019s possible someone like Murray is acquired and he\u2019s all but certainly pushed to the bench.<\/p>\n While Sorrentino won\u2019t speak into significant roster decisions, who is throwing his wideouts the ball dramatically impacts the likelihood he\u2019ll have for success.
