One of the standout performers for the Pats in this game came from <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2026\/02\/former-patriots-defender-raekwon-mcmillan-important-question-christian-gonzalez\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">superstar cornerback Christian Gonzalez<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was another standout campaign for Gonzalez, who solidified his standing as one of the top players at his position across the league. Gonzalez put together arguably his best game of the season in the Super Bowl, as he had three pass deflections, while also playing a key role in holding Jaxon Smith-Njigba to just four catches for 27 yards.<\/p>\n<p>The loss was a tough pill for everyone in New England to swallow, especially Gonzalez, considering all he did to help his team come out on top. And while the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DUn_g4EkUxs\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">loss of defeat stings<\/a>, Gonzalez made it clear he\u2019s not letting it take away from what the Patriots accomplished this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet It Sting, But Don\u2019t Let It Take Away What WE Did,\u201d Gonzalez said in a post on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>This figures to be an important offseason for Gonzalez, as he will almost certainly have the fifth-year option in his rookie contract exercised. Beyond that, though, Gonzalez is primed to earn a contract extension, potentially even as early this offseason.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nesn-in-content-ad__copy\">Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Keeping Gonzalez around is obviously a key piece of business for the front office this offseason.
