That’s a far cry from how they operated this time last year, when Vikings brass turned their noses up at worthwhile veteran quarterbacks — including Daniel Jones, Aaron Rodgers and (Super Bowl champ) Sam Darnold — before settling for Sam Howell.

Those past QB mistakes recently cost Kwesi Adofo-Mensah his GM job — a wake-up call for coaches and executives throughout the organization — which explains the sudden sense of urgency coming out of Eagan

On Wednesday, Kevin Seifert (ESPN) got on KFAN radio with veteran drivetime host Dan Barreiro, who used Kevin to get a read on how the Vikings might view specific QBs, with free agency right around the corner.

Aaron Rodgers + Minnesota Vikings back on the map

The entire segment is worth a listen. But when Barreiro got got to Aaron Rodgers, the conversation turned even more interesting. While most around the league have already retired Rodgers or put him back in Pittsburgh, the seasoned NFL insider believes a move to Minnesota is still very much on the table.

According to Seifert, there are enough high-ranking people at TCO Performance Center who remain big fans of Rodgers. Thus, “I can’t rule that one out”, he told Barreiro.

“I mean, there’s still some people in the building, I think, who are fans [of Rodgers]…”

“People have said, ‘Well, if Rodgers is going to play next year, it’ll be with the Steelers because of Mike McCarthy.’ And I do think that they have managed to patch up whatever was plaguing them at the end of their time together in Green Bay. But I don’t know if that’s a lock.

I don’t know if Aaron Rodgers wants to play at all. I don’t know if he knows, if he wants to play it all. But I think there’s probably some people in the [Vikings’] building who still feel like they’d be better off doing that. So I wouldn’t rule that one out.”

Kevin Seifert – KFAN Radio

For those who think that Aaron Rodgers is too old to provide a stable bridge season in Minnesota, it’s worth noting that last year, at age 41, he started 16 games, completing 65.7% of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

That’s in a non-KOC offense. Why do you think Rodgers waited so long for the Minnesota Vikings to make their quarterback decision last offseason, before begrudgingly inking a one-year deal in Pittsburgh? Well, it’s a new year and O’Connell has more say in the situation than he ever has before.

Why signing Aaron Rodgers makes sense for Vikings and JJ McCarthy

Thus, it’s no surprise that the Vikings might be interested in kicking the tires on Aaron Rodgers again. Believe it or not — of all the QB options Kevin O’Connell has in front of him this offseason — his old Cal pal is probably the most JJ McCarthy-friendly.

Not only would Rodgers be able to see open receivers and win more games, but he would provide JJ McCarthy with a quarterback therapist who’s literally seen it all, both on and off the field, and one who is happy to teach at this point in his career.

One thing I’ll say about Aaron Rodgers is he came in and was a better mentor and leader to Will Howard and Mason Rudolph than Ben ever was.

— Zach (@ZPSteelers2) February 11, 2026

Problem with a look, question over a read, haunted by how you answered a reporter’s question — there’s no QB the Minnesota Vikings could bring in who has seen more and done more than Aaron Rodgers.

But if you are JJ McCarthy’s representation, you want Aaron Rodgers to the Vikings more than anyone else. Because, at 42 years old, he represents ZERO threat to the 23-year-old‘s future as MN Vikings franchise quarterback.

In fact, if I am McCarthy’s agent, I’d be in O’Connell’s ear incessantly right now, cheerleading for them to sign Aaron Rodgers. When you take a step back, the Vikings’ other top options — Kyler Murray (28), Daniel Jones (28), Mac Jones (27), etc — would be an imminent threat to JJ’s long-term future in Minnesota.

Mentioned in this article: Aaron Rodgers NFL Offseason

More About:Minnesota Vikings

Add MinnesotaSportsFan as a preferred source on Google.

Credit: Reuters via Imagn Images All QB bets are reportedly off for the Minnesota Vikings QB search this…

[2073
1586,7,233,259,2529,6,7828,234
0":"post-747249","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-minnesota-vikings","8":"tag-aaron-rodgers","9":"tag-football","10":"tag-minnesota","11":"tag-minnesota-vikings","12":"tag-minnesotavikings","13":"tag-nfl","14":"tag-nfl-offseason","15":"tag-vikings
["GET
