The Michigan Wolverines are in the infancy stages of their 2027 recruiting class, especially considering the recent coaching change. Thankfully for Kyle Whittingham and company, they have been able to hang onto the four committed prospects<\/a> in the class up to this point and are looking to build on that over the calendar year.<\/p>\n

And if this recent prediction ends up coming to fruition, Michigan could be looking at another top-10-ish recruiting class. In a recent article calling his shot on some uncommitted prospects, Rivals\u2019 Greg Smith<\/a> ($) said he thinks the Wolverines will eventually land the commitment of four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell<\/a>. Here\u2019s what he had to say:<\/p>\n

\u201cOther teams have tried to push their way into this two team race between Michigan and Notre Dame. Lately, Arizona State has been rising here as a true threat to the blue blood programs. But right now I still like Michigan to get this one done. He\u2019s very familiar with the program overall but just needs more time to get exposed to coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burrell (6-foot-3, 175 pounds and from Chicago) has been a longtime top target for Michigan on the recruiting trail, dating back to the previous regime. Whittingham and wide receivers coach Micah Simon have made it clear to Burrell he remains a top target for them. In fact, the coaching staff took an in-home visit with Burrell and his family this winter prior to the dead period to start laying the foundation.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy interest still remains with U-M,\u201d Burrell told On3\u2019s Ethan McDowell<\/a> ($) in January. \u201cRight now, coach Simon and I are building a relationship, and I look forward to meeting some of the other coaches to continue to learn more about their program. I am familiar with the campus and the school, so now it\u2019s more about this new staff and their plan for me. Michigan is definitely in the running, and coach Simon knows that.\u201d<\/p>\n

It also helps that his sister plays for the Michigan women\u2019s soccer team and that he\u2019s been up to Ann Arbor on several occasions over the past year or so thanks to that. He visited twice for game days this past fall and is expected back on campus this spring for an unofficial visit. If all goes well there, it wouldn\u2019t be surprising for him to set an official visit.<\/p>\n

Burrell is the No. 9 wide receiver and No. 50 overall prospect in the class on 247Sports\u2019 composite, so he would be a major addition to this class and be paired up with top-100 four-star quarterback commit Peter Bourque.
