The only holdovers from John Harbaugh’s staff are Anthony Levine (promotion), Randy Brown, Prentice Gill, and Tyler Santucci. Zach Orr, Chuck Smith, Tee Martin, and Travelle Wharton, who haven’t been announced as hires elsewhere, are not part of Jesse Minter’s new staff.<\/p>\n
Youth Movement<\/p>\n
Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle is 29, the same age as MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. Mickens (38), Bower (37), and Taylor (30) have yet to turn 40. Minter is 42, and his defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver, is 45.<\/p>\n
College coaches making the jump<\/p>\n
Mike Mickens (Notre Dame), defensive line coach Lou Esposito (Michigan), outside linebackers coach Harland Bower (Duke), safeties coach P.J. Volker, and assistant defensive backs coach Miles Taylor (Nebraska) all departed really good college jobs to join Minter’s staff.<\/p>\n
Football is a family business<\/p>\n
Minter hired his dad, Rick, 71, as a senior analyst. A former head coach at the University of Cincinnati, the elder Minter led the Bearcats to three consecutive bowl games from 2000 to 2002.<\/p>\n
Ravens have big names<\/p>\n
Baltimore added some big names and plenty of coaching experience. Weaver previously worked as the defensive line coach in Buffalo, Cleveland, Houston, and Baltimore, and served as the defensive coordinator in Miami for the past two seasons after departing the Ravens the same year Mike Macdonald joined the Seahawks. The Ravens added former Steelers running backs coach Eddie Faulkner and senior assistant Joe Lombardi, who was the Denver Broncos’ offensive coordinator against New England in the AFC Championship Game.
