The soon-to-be 36-year-old missed the last eight games of the 2025 season after suffering a Lisfranc injury in a Week 11 win over the Detroit Lions. Signs point to Johnson returning for his 14th season, but it behooves the Eagles to invest in a successor — preferably one who can also offer snaps at guard in the meantime. Brown’s recent public comments indicate he’ll definitely be back with the Philadelphia Eagles next season. Case closed. The sense here is that sentiment is more wishful thinking than reality. Recent reporting claims Brown’s “relationship with the team remains somewhat tenuous.” One NFL insider said he expects Brown trade talks to pick up at the NFL Combine, which is typically a precursor to NFL free agency activity. Brown? Brown has made his mark as arguably the best receiver in Philadelphia’s history, posting two 1,400-plus-yard seasons and reaching two Super Bowls since joining the team in 2022. His frustrations with the offense have been well documented, however, and it’s fair to wonder if that impacted his play in 2025. The front office will have to decide if it can get Brown to buy in or if it’s better to move on from him. “It is hard to find great players in the NFL and A.J.‘s a great player,” general manager Howie Roseman said in January.

A.J. If they are able re-sign Phillips to a long-term extension, I believe they will still pick up Smith’s fifth-year option. The question going forward in that scenario then just becomes a matter of how many edge defenders they can afford to pay. f they believe they can pay good money to three edge defenders, then it’s an easy decision to exercise Smith’s fifth-year option. If they don’t think they can pay three edge defenders good money, they can buy more time on choosing which players to retain by exercising Smith’s fifth-year option, as both Smith and Hunt would be under the team’s control through the 2027 season. #JimmyVerdict: Exercise it. ✅.

Cooper DeJean weighs in on an Eagles’ offseason of changes – NBCSP
In just two short years in the NFL, Cooper DeJean has already won a Super Bowl and has become a Pro Bowler and All-Pro. McCourty floated the idea of the Dallas Cowboys sending star wide receiver George Pickens to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for premier edge rusher Maxx Crosby. Many Dallas fans have already visualized Crosby in a Cowboys uniform when he was a huge topic of discussion during last year’s trade deadline. He’s clearly a recurring pipe dream. But McCourty has added another element to the mix, as this scenario forces the front office to choose in a rare star-for-star swap. That’s a bit of a curveball as fans preferred to have both, but if we want to seriously consider such a trade, we should entertain the following questions.

NFL free agency – 33 guys(!) who could potentially be added to Commanders’ roster in the next 4 weeks – Hogs Haven
We saw Howie Roseman forced to let key players like Milton Williams leave in free agency a year ago — and the Eagles are expected to be awarded 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks in this year’s draft as partial compensation. I’m guessing that Howie will try to avoid a similar situation playing out in the ‘26 offseason with Jaelan Phillips, who will likely be one of three priority extensions along with Dallas Goedert and Nakobe Dean. If he makes it to free agency, I wouldn’t be opposed to Washington trying to sign him but I expect to see him back in Philly in 2026.

How fast can the Giants turn their defense around? – Big Blue View
The problem now is that the defense has mostly been awful for the past three years…just when the NFL pendulum seems to be swinging back toward “defense wins championships.” The Seahawks provide an interesting lesson on how to reach that point, although they haven’t been worse than 7-10 (in 2021) in any year since 2009.
