A few others in this category included Kyler Murray, Joe Flacco, Spencer Rattler, and others.

“The 44-year-old proved he could still succeed with his brain; his arm, however, showed his age,” Shook wrote.

In his three games, Rivers completed 63% of his passes for 544 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Colts, unfortunately, did not win any of those games, but Rivers routinely put the offense into favorable looks pre-snap and helped that unit sustain drives and hang around in games, giving Indianapolis a chance.

The Colts needed stability at quarterback, and Rivers was able to provide that.

Leonard, meanwhile, came in at No. 47 in these rankings and in Tier 6. Carson Wentz, Shedeur Sanders, Russell Wilson, and others were in this tier.

“Riley Leonard made one start and was shockingly effective, slinging the ball around the yard as if there was no tomorrow in a high-scoring loss to Houston,” Shook wrote.

As Shook said, Leonard’s start against Houston — a very good defense — in Week 18 was quite good. He completed 21-of-34 passes for 270 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

It wasn’t perfect by any means, but Leonard always found a way to respond. Could he be the Colts’ backup quarterback in 2026?

Anthony Richardson would appear in a couple of games before being placed on IR, but did not make any starts. So he did not qualify for Shook’s rankings.

This article originally appeared on Colts Wire: Every starting QB from 2025 ranked: Where do Colts QBs land?

The Indianapolis Colts had three different quarterbacks start games this past season.
