{"id":753023,"date":"2026-02-15T03:08:19","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T03:08:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/753023\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T03:08:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T03:08:19","slug":"nfc-notes-david-blough-nick-sirianni-commanders-eagles-giants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/753023\/","title":{"rendered":"NFC Notes: David Blough, Nick Sirianni, Commanders, Eagles, Giants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commanders finished 5-12 after reaching the 2024 NFC Championship game, resulting in them parting ways with OC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KingKl00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-14_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kliff Kingsbury<\/a> and DC Joe Whitt Jr. Washington HC Dan Quinn explained that changes to their coaching staff were the best choice for the team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen there\u2019s time for change, those are difficult conversations, discussions,\u201d Quinn said, via <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/commanders-coordinators-jayden-daniels-dan-quinn-david-blough-9f22f90388365010731127fabf85cd60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Standig of the Associated Press.<\/a> \u201cAt the end, you keep going back to what\u2019s the best thing for the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Washington promoted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BlouDa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-14_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">David Blough<\/a> from assistant QBs coach to offensive coordinator. Blough said he wasn\u2019t surprised to earn the job and is prepared for the opportunity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou feel like every step along the way you prepare for these opportunities,\u201d Blough said. \u201cSurprise may not be the be exact feeling. It might be grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Commanders also hired Daronte Jones as their new defensive coordinator, marking the first time he\u2019s served in the role with an NFL team. Quinn feels both Jones and Blough have the right vision for the job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt their vision right away and the energy they have for it,\u201d Quinn said. \u201cI know we may talk of two first-time coordinators, but I also recognize everyone needs their first stop. I really feel like we\u2019re going to set them up to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Ralph Vacchiano ranked Eagles HC Nick Sirianni second on his hot-seat list and\u00a0offered his opinion, while former Eagles C\u00a0Jason Kelce also appeared on 94 WIP-FM to disagree with the thought that Sirianni\u2019s job is in jeopardy to start the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this seems ridiculous given Sirianni\u2019s 59-26 record, three division titles, two trips to the Super Bowl and one championship in his four years,\u201d Vacchiano said, via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/stories\/nfl\/which-coaches-already-hot-seat-2026-heat-will-highest-glenn-sirianni-bowles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fox Sports<\/a>. \u201cWell, you don\u2019t know Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie then. His standards are crazy high, and there is deep disappointment inside his organization over the wasted opportunities in both 2023 and 2025. Not all of (the disappointment) is directed at Sirianni, but sources said there has been internal frustration about his staffing choices and, at times, the way he manages what is sometimes a difficult locker room. But mostly it\u2019s the late fade and playoff failures in those two seasons. The Eagles will probably win double-digit games and the NFC East again in 2026. But if they don\u2019t advance in the playoffs, no one will be shocked if they make a change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say going into the season Nick Sirianni is on the hot seat\u2026but if things don\u2019t go well, it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if the Eagles are like, listen, we want to abort and try something new because that\u2019s the way this thing is going in the league,\u201d Kelce said during his appearance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sny.tv\/articles\/5-free-agents-giants-target-2026-offseason\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">SNY\u2019s Connor Hughes<\/a>\u00a0notes the Giants will need to save cap space before making additions this offseason, and thinks LB\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/O\/OkerBo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bobby Okereke<\/a>, G\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=RunyJo00,RunyJo20&amp;search=Jon+Runyan&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jon Runyan<\/a>\u00a0Jr., OT\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HudsJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">James Hudson<\/a>, RB Devin Singletary, and K\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GanoGr44.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Graham Gano,<\/a> among others, could be cap casualties.<br \/>\nIn free agency, Hughes believes the Giants should target Ravens C <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LindTy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tyler Linderbaum<\/a> for his steadiness at the position and his history with HC John Harbaugh, though it will likely cost around $18 million annually.<br \/>\nHughes doesn\u2019t see a path to moving on from WR\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SlayDa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Darius Slayton<\/a> and says\u00a0they would like to retain WR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RobiWa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wan\u2019Dale Robinson<\/a>. Regardless, he feels Colts WR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PierAl00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Alec Pierce<\/a> is the type of splash the position needs.<br \/>\nRavens TE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LikeIs00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Isaiah Likely<\/a> is another Baltimore player on the list as someone the Giants could target if the receivers are too pricey.<br \/>\nDefensively, Hughes brings up Chiefs CB <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WatsJa02.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaylen Watson<\/a> and Lions DT <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReadD.00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=nfltraderumors.co&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-12_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">D.J. Reader<\/a>.
