The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis is fast approaching. For the New York Jets, it\u2019s an opportunity to get an eye on some of the top prospects in April\u2019s draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For the fans, though, the combine is the first chance to hear from head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey since their end-of-year press conference in January.<\/p>\n

Many things have changed for the team since then. They have a revamped coaching staff<\/a> and a fresh plan going into the offseason.<\/p>\n

That leaves five important questions that the team needs to answer when they speak in a couple of weeks. <\/p>\n

1. What led to the change at offensive coordinator?<\/p>\n

Glenn had teased potential changes being made on the offensive side of the ball, but few expected the kind of complete overhaul the organization underwent over the last month.<\/p>\n

In Indianapolis, Glenn will have a chance to provide fans with an understanding of the Jets\u2019 mindset in moving from Tanner Engstrand to Frank Reich. It can go a long way toward getting fans to approve of the abrupt change.<\/p>\n

Reich\u2019s experience<\/a> is an obvious plus for a young team. But is that the only reason why the team brought him in? What does Glenn have to say about Reich\u2019s struggles at his recent NFL stops?<\/p>\n

There are many questions about Reich and the process that led the team there. <\/p>\n

2. How is the team approaching its need at quarterback?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s safe to assume that both Mougey and Glenn won\u2019t be openly touting exactly what the team plans to do at the quarterback position. New York will need to keep their plans close to the vest, considering the options via trade, the draft, or free agency.<\/p>\n

What fans can get, though, is a look at what traits the Jets will target the position.<\/a><\/p>\n

Will the organization target bigger quarterbacks who fit Reich\u2019s offensive mold? Do they want someone who can make plays with their legs to help aid the running game?<\/p>\n

New York\u2019s prototype mold at quarterback will determine what they are expected to do the rest of the offseason.<\/p>\n

3. Will Glenn make it official that he\u2019s calling defensive plays?<\/p>\n

The hiring of Brian Duker as defensive coordinator meant one thing for most fans and analysts: Glenn will be calling plays on defense in 2026.<\/p>\n

The former defensive coordinator and play-caller of the Detroit Lions enjoyed plenty of success during his time there. Glenn\u2019s experience as a play-caller is such that he could very well be an upgrade to the likes of Steve Wilks from last season. Will that actually be the plan, though?<\/p>\n

A confirmation regarding the Jets\u2019 defensive play-calling plans (even though it\u2019s widely expected) could provide fans and analysts with more clarity regarding which free agents or prospects could fit Glenn\u2019s defensive mold<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4. What kind of players will Jets focus on in free agency?<\/p>\n

Does Glenn want to bring in former Lions players he coached to help continue his culture change? Will the team bring Breece Hall back in any capacity? New York\u2019s offseason plan is full of major questions about the franchise\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

Again, it\u2019s hard to envision Mougey and Glenn telling everyone the Jets\u2019 exact plans going forward. What we can expect at the very least, though, is an idea of the kind of players the team wants to bring in.<\/p>\n

New York made plenty of changes to its coaching staff this offseason. It\u2019s a safe bet to assume the kind of players they want may change as well.<\/a><\/p>\n

5. Are all options on the table?<\/p>\n

Just how aggressive are the Jets going to be allowed to be in 2026? In the final year of the Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh era, the organization reportedly<\/a> was not allowed to offer any long-term deals to players. <\/p>\n

With Glenn and Mougey expected to be on the hot seat, will that be the team\u2019s mindset again? New York needs drastic changes to the roster. They have five first-round picks over the next two years, but the team should remain aggressive in acquiring the best players available.<\/p>\n
