AARON RODGERS’ future remains unclear – after\u00a0Minnesota Vikings’ latest announcement.<\/p>\n

Rodgers<\/a>, 41, is a free agent after\u00a0New York Jets<\/a> released the\u00a0Hall of Famer.<\/p>\n

And the Vikings <\/a>are one of the two franchises most strongly linked\u00a0with recruiting the legendary quarterback.<\/p>\n

But now Minnesota appear to have shut the door on such a move.<\/p>\n

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has made it plain the Vikings plan to use\u00a0J.J. McCarthy as their starting QB this year.<\/p>\n

That’s likely\u00a0to leave Rodgers with a stark choice between Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> and retirement.<\/p>\n

Brett Rypien is the only other quarterback on the Vikings roster.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old is now with his sixth NFL franchise – but might not be seen as the ideal back-up for McCarthy.<\/p>\n

That means the Vikings are tipped to bring in another signal caller.<\/p>\n

But Adofo-Mensah has given little away in public.<\/p>\n

He said:\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019re gonna focus on, as my staff always does, the best opportunities there.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re not going to rush it either way. But we\u2019re mindful of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rodgers has stressed he won’t be rushed into informing Steelers of his intentions.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0four-time\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0MVP\u00a0said:\u00a0“This entire time I haven’t felt like I’ve owed anyone any sort of decision at any point.”<\/p>\n

But he stressed he has been “up front” with Steelers\u00a0after meeting\u00a0head coach Mike Tomlin – and accepts they might move on without him.<\/p>\n

Rodgers added:\u00a0“I’ll set it all straight. From the jump, I’m in a different phase of my life.<\/p>\n

“I’m 41, I’m in a serious relationship<\/a>, I have personal commitments I’ve made… and people in my inner circle battling difficult stuff.<\/p>\n
