Justin Herbert ranked as the No. 5 best quarterback in the NFL throughout the 2025 season, according to NFL.com’s Nick Shook.<\/a><\/p>\n

Herbert joined Rams<\/a>‘ Matthew Stafford, Bills<\/a>‘ Josh Allen, Cowboys’ Dak Prescott, and Patriots’ Drake Maye in the top tier of signal-callers on Shook’s list of quarterback rankings.<\/p>\n

“Justin Herbert\u00a0deserves a medal for the courage required to get these Chargers<\/a> to the playoffs. He lost one starting tackle (Rashawn Slater) for the entire season and another for a significant portion of it (Joe Alt) and played a significant chunk of time without one or both of his top two running backs (Najee Harris\u00a0and\u00a0Omarion Hampton). He put the Chargers on his back anyway, finishing as both the leading passer and rusher in some games while carrying them to an 11-6 finish and a return trip to the playoffs,” Shook writes.<\/p>\n

He added: “Oh, he did much of this with a broken hand, too. Hopefully, the Chargers can stay healthy up front and take some of the responsibility off his shoulders next season.”<\/p>\n

How Did Justin Herbert Perform in 2025?<\/p>\n

Herbert finished the 2025 campaign with 3,886 passing yards with 26 touchdowns, averaging 7.2 yards per catch. He rushed for 555 yards and added two scores on the ground. Perhaps his most notable statistic was his completion percentage, which was 66.1.<\/p>\n

The performance from Herbert, in spite of a struggling offensive line, earned him a single first-place vote on the MVP ballot, which seemingly took away the tying vote between Stafford and Maye in the tight-knit race.<\/p>\n
