The Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> are already focusing on the 2026 season as they regroup following a disappointing 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n

ESPN<\/a> recently released an “Early 2026 NFL Power Rankings”, evaluating each team going into the offseason. The Chiefs were ranked 12th by the network’s writers. ESPN Chiefs beat writer Nate Taylor shared details on Kansas City’s offseason plans to return to the playoffs.<\/p>\n

“While quarterback Patrick Mahomes rehabs his left knee, [head] coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach have to improve the roster to better support their quarterback,” Taylor wrote<\/a>. “The Chiefs need to have an offseason similar to 2022, which continued the franchise’s dynastic run. With a rare top-10 draft pick, they have the opportunity to acquire a difference-maker. With proper youth and the right veterans acquired, the Chiefs can restart their quest for another Super Bowl.”<\/p>\n

Kansas City’s impressive 10-year playoff streak, which included seven straight AFC Championship appearances, ended with the conclusion of the 2025 season, marking their first postseason absence since 2014 after finishing 6-11.<\/p>\n

The coaching staff has already been adjusted with the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and changes at skill positions.<\/p>\n
