The New York Giants<\/a> have an edge rusher they could unload this offseason and the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> should take note.<\/p>\n

That edge rusher is, of course, Kayvon Thibodeaux, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2026.<\/p>\n

Trading Thibodeaux, who has shown promise during what has been a disappointing career overall, would no doubt hurt New York’s defense, but if the Giants don’t see a future with the 25-year-old edge rusher, they could part ways.<\/p>\n

And it’s reasonable to think the Giants may not have Thibodeaux in their long-term plans given the presences of Abdul Carter and Brian Burns.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell<\/a> is of the opinion the Giants could trade Thibodeaux, and he proposes a deal with head coach John Harbaugh’s former team, the Ravens, that would net New York a fourth-round pick.<\/p>\n

“It’s difficult to see Thibodeaux having much of a future in New York. The Giants signed\u00a0Brian Burns\u00a0to a\u00a0long-term contract\u00a0and just used the third pick on\u00a0Abdul Carter, who posted massive pressure rates in his debut season,” Barnwell said.<\/p>\n

“No Ravens player had more than five sacks last season,” he added. “Veterans\u00a0Kyle Van Noy\u00a0and\u00a0Dre’Mont Jones\u00a0are free agents.”<\/p>\n

While we could see the Ravens bring Jones back, Van Noy is less likely to return given his steep fall off in production from 12.5 sacks in 2024 to just 2.5 in 2025.<\/p>\n

The concerns with Thibodeaux are clear. He has had issues staying healthy the last two seasons and the Ravens could end up giving up draft capital for a player who might not return in 2027.<\/p>\n

That said, if he can stay healthy, Thibodeaux could flourish in Jesse Minter’s defense, much like we saw Odafe Oweh do in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

And, if he pans out, Thibodeaux could prove to be a long-term solution in Baltimore given the fact he’s just 25 years old.<\/p>\n

With Harbaugh having an eye on the playoffs<\/a> in his first season, it’s very possible the Giants will hold on to Thibodeaux, at least up until the trade deadline.<\/p>\n

But if he hits the trade block at any point, the Ravens could be one of the teams that has interest, although Harbaugh may not be keen on helping the team that just cut him loose.<\/p>\n
