Former Atlanta Falcons<\/a> quarterback Matt Schaub<\/a> is taking a job with the Arizona Cardinals<\/a>, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Schaub is expected to join Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur’s staff as the team’s new quarterbacks coach.<\/p>\n

Schaub was originally selected by the Falcons in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played three seasons in Atlanta before getting traded to the Houston Texans<\/a> in 2007. Over his next seven seasons in Houston, Schaub made two Pro Bowls and led the league in passing yards in 2009.<\/p>\n

The veteran quarterback returned to Atlanta in 2016, spending his final five seasons with the Falcons before retiring in 2020. Schaub was hired by the team as a football analyst in 2023, but he was dismissed in 2024 along with former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith.<\/p>\n

Over his 17 NFL seasons, Schaub passed for 25,467 passing yards, 136 touchdowns and 91 interceptions for the Falcons, Raiders<\/a>, Ravens<\/a> and Texans. It will be interesting to see how Schaub fares in Arizona.<\/p>\n

The Cardinals still have a former No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray under contract, but many expect the team to move on from the quarterback in the offseason.<\/p>\n
