The Minnesota Vikings\u2019 top priority this offseason<\/a> is at quarterback. It\u2019s far from their only question mark on offense, however.<\/p>\n There are health concerns across the offensive line, they need to find Aaron Jones\u2019 replacement and TJ Hockenson costs way too much next season. But WR might be the sneakiest position of concern on the Vikings\u2019 entire roster, outside of quarterback.<\/p>\n Outside of making sure Justin Jefferson gets the ball way more often in 2026, nothing at wide receiver is a certainty this offseason in Minnesota, where Jalen Nailor is expected to leave via free agency and Jordan Addison can\u2019t stay out of trouble<\/a>.<\/p>\n Tyreek Hill being released by Miami Dolphins<\/p>\n And that brings us to the biggest NFL news of this President\u2019s Day Monday, so far. This morning, the Miami Dolphins\u2019 are officially planning the release of superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill, according Adam Schefter (ESPN)<\/a> and all the other major national NFL insiders.<\/p>\n Sources: Miami\u2019s eight-time Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill is being released. Hill turns 32 on March 1, is recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ACL, and now will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.<\/p>\n His release will save the Dolphins $22.8 million\u2026 pic.twitter.com\/xK1UGfsWyg<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 16, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n Over the course of his 10-year NFL career<\/a>, Tyreek Hill has played for just two NFL teams. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, where he helped Patrick Mahomes become the league\u2019s best quarterback, before signing with Miami in 2022 as a free agent, where he has remained since.<\/p>\n We will get to what makes Hill a great wide receiver momentarily, but that conversation begins with the 31-year-old\u2019s previous ability to stay healthy. Prior to suffering a major week 4 leg injury<\/a> that cost him the final 14 games of the Dolphins\u2019 season, \u201cCheetah\u201d had appeared in 15 or more games in all but one of his nine NFL seasons.<\/p>\n Kansas City selected<\/a> Tyreek Hill in the 5th round of the 2016 NFL Draft, but he blew onto the scene quickly, racking up nearly 600 yards and 6 touchdowns as a rookie, before pushing over 1100 yards (7 TD) in year two. Now, the superstar talent is up for grabs to the highest free agent bidder\u2026 and there is no arguing the Minnesota Vikings\u2019 need at wide receiver.<\/p>\n Could Minnesota Vikings be No. 1 on Tyreek\u2019s list of free agent destinations?<\/p>\n While it\u2019s still very much a longshot \u2014 given how much the Wilfs are already paying<\/a> Justin Jefferson and their focus this offseason revolving around throwing the football, not catching it \u2014 there is one intriguing factor connecting our favorite football team to the most talented offensive player now on the open market.<\/p>\n The MN Vikings aren\u2019t just your favorite National Football League team\u2026 Tyreek Hill is a self-described \u201cdie-hard\u201d Vikings fan, as well \u2014 something he has talked openly about multiple times somewhat recently \u2014 even diving into some of his all-time favorites like Moss, Culpepper, Winfield etc.<\/p>\n https:\/\/t.co\/GhZ8eHhEU5<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/H6slPMeLTf<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 VikingzFanPage (@vikingzfanpage) February 16, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n \u201cI grew up a Minnesota Vikings fan my whole life. If I had to choose any team I wanted to play for \u2014 growing up as a kid, I was a Minnesota Vikings fan. I love the Vikes, man.\u201d<\/p>\n Obviously, the biggest questions surrounding Tyreek Hill are his health and cost. The Dolphins let him go because nobody is sure if he will play at all in 2026, due to the severity of his knee\/leg injury.<\/p>\n However, it\u2019s possible the uncertainty over Hill\u2019s health could play into the Vikings\u2019 favor, when it comes to the second question mark. Whoever lands Hill will do so at some sort of discount, and the Vikings would need one.<\/p>\n Related Story: Brian Flores Wanted Kwesi Adofo-Mensah Gone?<\/a><\/p>\n So while Hill\u2019s favorite team is trying to win now, and he can\u2019t help them do that rehabbing his leg, Minnesota\u2019s larger focus remains on what comes beyond 2026, since keeping Justin Jefferson and the Wilf Family happy are both yearly commitments.<\/p>\n That means, if Tyreek Hill really wants to play for his favorite team and happens to be intrigued by Kevin O\u2019Connell\u2019s passing concepts\u2026 then the Vikings signing him on a short-term incentive-laden deal would be far from the strangest thing that happen in the NFL over these next three months.<\/p>\n Do not doubt a superhero Tyreek Hill comeback tour<\/p>\n For most of his professional career, Tyreek Hill \u2014 who still holds the fastest in-game speed ever recorded<\/a> during an NFL game at 23.24 MPH (2016) \u2014 has been widely considered the fastest player in the NFL for the past decade, that\u2019s not what makes him an elite wide receiver.<\/p>\n TYREEK HILL 53 YARDS TO THE CRIB \ud83c\udfe0 (via @NFL<\/a>) <\/p>\n pic.twitter.com\/QOh9Q18H11<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Overtime (@overtime) January 14, 2024<\/a> <\/p>\n Because as the MN Vikings found out first hand back in the 2005<\/a> \u2014 when they used the first round draft pick they received from Oakland in exchange for Randy Moss to select South Carolina\u2019s Troy \u201cNo Hands\u201d Williamson No. 7 overall \u2014 elite speed doesn\u2019t mean anything if you can\u2019t get open or catch the ball.<\/p>\n That\u2019s what sets Hill apart, not just from other extremely fast wide receivers, but from pretty much every wide receiver to come through the league. Yes, he is fast and he does have have cartoonish quickness and athleticism.<\/p>\n He also has an incredible knack for finding weak spots in a defense or coming down with the ball, when covered.
