A two-time Pro Bowl defensive end is now on the free agent market, which could be of interest to the Indianapolis Colts<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network,<\/a> the Miami Dolphins are releasing veteran edge rusher Bradley Chubb. Ian Rapoport added that after Miami restructured Chubb’s deal last year, which resulted in a $31 million cap hit for 2026, releasing him was “always the plan.”<\/p>\n Chubb was the fifth overall pick by Denver in the 2018 NFL draft. He was named a Pro Bowler in 2020 and 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n He has spent the last three-plus seasons with the Dolphins after being traded to Miami in 2022.<\/p>\n Chubb missed the 2024 season due to an ACL injury, but this past year, he played nearly 800 defensive snaps, logging 48 pressures and eight sacks, according to PFF<\/a>. Those 48 pressures were tied for 28th among his position group.<\/p>\n Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n His most productive season came in 2023, when Chubb recorded 70 quarterback pressures.<\/p>\n Defensive end is one of the biggest needs that the Colts<\/a> have to address this offseason.<\/p>\n For starters, depth is needed with Samson Ebukam, Tyquan Lewis, and Kwity Paye all set to be free agents. But in addition to that, as GM Chris Ballard put it, “more fuel” is needed up front. The Colts’ pass rush was far too inconsistent last season.<\/p>\n After GM Chris Ballard was more aggressive in free agency last offseason, it sounds like the Colts plan to\u00a0take a similar approach this year.<\/a><\/p>\n
