Ben Roethlisberger<\/a> has been in headlines over the past week because of critical comments his ex-teammate, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter Sr., made about him last week. <\/p>\n

Porter labeled the iconic quarterback as not being a good teammate or person, with some of the frustrations stemming from Roethlisberger\u2019s comments about now-former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin this past season.<\/p>\n

During the most recent episode of his \u201cFootbahlin\u201d podcast, Roethlisberger spoke about his takeaways from \u201cI Can Only Imagine 2,\u201d a sequel movie he\u2019d recently seen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think about my own life, and it reminded me of the transformation that I\u2019ve gone through in my life \u2014 that only comes from the grace of God,\u201d Roethlisberger said<\/a> Tuesday. \u201cIt only comes through the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. Being sanctified through Him, because I think we all have to grow up. We\u2019re all immature at times, and we\u2019re all selfish. And that\u2019s just part of what happened in the Garden (of Eden). That\u2019s the sin that is in all of us. We\u2019re born inherently sinful and selfish.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so, I think, as we grow and we mature, and, again, I say it\u2019s only through the grace of God that we can look back and be like, \u2018Man, look how much I\u2019m changed. I\u2019m proud of that.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s synopsis<\/a> reads as an \u201cinspiring next chapter of faith, family, and finding God in the fire.\u201d Former Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison, another player Porter sent shots at, said Monday that Roethlisberger wasn\u2019t a bad teammate, but \u201ccould be an asshole.\u201d Harrison also considers himself closer with Roethlisberger than ever before.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like to think as we mature and as we grow in our faith \u2014 I grow in my faith \u2014 that it\u2019s less about me, No. 1,\u201d Roethlisberger said. \u201cI think a lot of us, inherently, that\u2019s what we are. We\u2019re born (thinking), \u2018I\u2019m No. 1.\u2019 I think as I\u2019ve grown in my faith and with my family and everything, it\u2019s like, \u2018Me needs to come way down and God goes No. 1, my family, my friends and then me.\u2019 And so I think I go through that every day.<\/p>\n

\u201cFast forward five years. I hope then, in five years, I\u2019m looking back at this version of me and still being like, \u2018Holy cow, he\u2019s continued to be transformed.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Roethlisberger didn\u2019t speak to Porter\u2019s comments during the 41-minute-long episode.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot a lot of Steeler news to really hit on. \u2026 Obviously, there\u2019s been no \u2014 that I can recollect, and I apologize to anybody if there is some \u2014 big news out there that we\u2019ve missed,\u201d he said earlier on. \u201cObviously, the biggest news would probably always be Aaron (Rodgers) and the quarterback situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
