Georgia football received some disappointing news<\/a> regarding two of its players, as linebackers Chris Cole and Darren Ikinnagbo were recently arrested on several misdemeanor driving charges, according to Anthony Dasher of On3sports.<\/p>\n

The school released a statement<\/a> regarding the arrests.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware of the charges and are actively gathering additional information,\u201d UGA spokesman Steven Drummond said. \u201cAs an ongoing legal matter, we will not be providing further comment at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cole was charged with speeding and reckless driving, while Ikinnagbo was charged with following too closely, speeding, and reckless driving. Cole was booked at 9:59 pm, and Ikinnagbo was booked at 10:27 pm. Both were released later on in the night on bail.<\/p>\n

Cole played in all 14 games for Georgia last season as a rising junior, recording 45 tackles and a team-high 4.5 sacks. Ikinnagbo played in five games last season as a freshman.<\/p>\n

This is not the first situation from a Georgia player that involved getting arrested due to speeding and reckless driving. In March 2025, Nitro Tuggle\u00a0was pulled over for driving at 107 miles per hour<\/a> in a 65 MPH area, according to the Athens-Banner Herald. The officer who filed the official police report says that Tuggle \u201cnearly exited without placing the vehicle in park.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tuggle was suspended by head coach Kirby Smart<\/a> for his arrest and was indefinitely forbidden from participating in all team activities.<\/p>\n
