49ers draft buzz: Daniel Jeremiah identifies pass rushers, WR targets for San Francisco<\/a>
\u201cIf you\u2019re looking for that big, physical rusher that kind of fits those specs, to me [Missouri DE] Zion Young, he\u2019s 6-5 and a quarter, 262 pounds,\u201d Jeremiah said. \u201cHe would fit those specs. I know T.J. Parker\u2019s not quite as big, but he\u2019s almost 6-4, 263 pounds out of Clemson. Both those guys can kind of be heavy edge setters, but can really rush with a lot of power and strength off the edge. So, those would be two from the edge rusher group\u2026In terms of the receivers, looking for somebody who can really, really run, there\u2019s going to be a lot of options there,\u201d Jeremiah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cKC Concepcion from Texas A&M\u2019s got elite, elite speed. He\u2019s got a couple punt return touchdowns to throw in the mix. He runs away from everybody. He\u2019s got some route polish to him as well. I think Denzel Boston\u2019s probably gone by then, but he\u2019s going to give you the combination of both, because he\u2019s going to be 6-3, close to 210 pounds, and I bet he runs in the 4.4s, mid-4.4s at that size. He\u2019s going to jump really well. He can win at the line of scrimmage against press. He\u2019s a red zone weapon. He can play above the rim. He can adjust in the middle of the field. He\u2019s a point scorer. So, he reminds me a lot of Courtland Sutton. I think he\u2019d be a fun one to have if he were to make it that far. We\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going to offer too much of a breakdown in writing (Dieter and I talked a lot on the pod about the top of the board, below.\u201c<\/p>\n

In 2024, the Patriots traded Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the following offseason, he became a free agent for the first time. He had other suitors but wanted to play for the 49ers and Kyle Shanahan, who\u2019d shown strong interest in him before the 2021 draft. In fact, Jones was so intent on trying to resurrect his career under Shanahan that he signed a two-year deal worth $7 million with only $4.75 million fully guaranteed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was what was presented to me,\u201d he said in November when asked about the contract. \u201cI wanted to get back to having fun playing football, and I think I\u2019ve done that.\u201d<\/p>\n

That two-year deal promises to make things interesting when team officials meet in Indianapolis for the annual NFL Scouting Combine next week. The 49ers have stated that they don\u2019t intend to trade Jones, who, after all, proved extremely valuable in 2025 and has a cap cost of only $3.1 million in 2026.\u201c<\/p>\n
