Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar, who would have been an opposing starting quarterback in Texas’ SEC opener in 2026, was denied a preliminary injunction by the NCAA in a lawsuit requesting additional eligibility.

From CBS Sports:

“Aguilar’s attorneys tried to argue that his junior college years should not count against his NCAA eligibility. Aguilar spent two years at the City College of San Francisco (2019-20) and two years Diablo Valley College (2021-22) before signing with Appalachian State ahead of the 2023 season. That was not a sufficient enough argument to win him the same type of temporary injunction against the NCAA that will allow Chambliss to play another year in Oxford, and barring an unforeseen reversal via a quick appeal, Aguilar will not be back in a Volunteer uniform this fall.”

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING ABOUT THE LONGHORNS

Austin American-Statesman: How to watch, what to know as 7 Longhorns head to 2026 NFL Combine

Austin American-Statesman: Golden: Why the precarious Texas-Notre Dame football series must go on

Austin American-Statesman: She’s back, and Texas SS Vivi Martinez is happy to be playing again

Austin American-Statesman: Golden: It isn’t always pretty but Texas basketball is rolling toward NCAAs

Austin American-Statesman: 5 Texas baseball alums to keep an eye on during MLB spring training

247Sports: Texas star catcher Reese Atwood hit in face with a pitch in Longhorns’ 12-2 victory over No. 16 Arizona

247Sports: Inside the Program: The latest Texas Longhorns intel as spring football approaches

Inside Texas: What can having an elite, individualized mind at your top assistant spot do for a title contending program?

ICYMI IN BURNT ORANGE NATION

No. 3 Texas hosts upstart Michigan State for weekend series

Get mad at the CFP committee for non-conference cancellations, not Texas fans

Chris Del Conte explains why Texas canceled the Arizona State series

The elite Texas offense is a Sean Miller miracle as Horns head to Athens

On Jonah Williams, availability, and the two-sport question

RECRUITING ROUNDUP

247Sports: Texas football recruiting dominoes to watch as the 2027 cycle moves on

247Sports: New Texas TE Michael Masunas noted as ‘under the radar’ transfer portal addition

247Sports: Blueblood programs turn up the heat as elite safety Giovanni Tuggle sets spring visits

247Sports: Texas on solid early footing with Langham Creek LB Jhadyn Nelson

Inside Texas: Texas hosting South Oak Cliff DB Isaiah Udom for official visit

Inside Texas: Recruiting Humidor: More top 2027 targets set official visits to Texas

Inside Texas: A timetable emerges for Laurence Seymore’s eligibility waiver decision

Inside Texas: What the 2027 Texas recruiting class needs by offensive position

SEC SHOWDOWN

Austin American-Statesman: No. 4 Texas routs Razorbacks in first trip to Arkansas in 35 years

247Sports: Know Your Longhorn Foe: Red-hot Texas basketball takes on a struggling Georgia team in Athens

Inside Texas: Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar’s eligibility injunction is denied – what does it mean for Texas’ SEC opener?

Good Bull Hunting: Baseball Preview: Texas A&M welcomes Penn to Olsen

Rock M Nation: Tigers face new challenge in the Arkansas Razorbacks

Rocky Top Talk: Tennessee walks it off to take game No. 1 over Kent State

Roll ‘Bama Roll: Alabama baseball wins 2-1

A Sea Of Blue: It’s gut-check time for Kentucky Basketball

WHAT WE’RE READING

SB Nation: The Bears moving to Indiana would be a soulless betrayal of a city that loves them
