In our \u201cLet\u2019s Argue\u201d series, our Mark Gunnels considers the hot takes, wacky predictions and unpopular opinions of Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> fans from all over the world.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs should draft a QB with the probability Mahomes won\u2019t be ready by the start of the season.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t a bad idea in theory.<\/p>\n

However, the Chiefs only have six draft picks this year.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, it\u2019s hard for me to justify drafting a quarterback with so few picks. After missing the playoffs for the first time in the era of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, general manager Brett Veach can\u2019t afford to waste a pick on a quarterback.<\/p>\n

Also, all reports point to Mahomes being ready to start Week 1.<\/p>\n

The team should just bring in a veteran quarterback as a backup.<\/p>\n

Chiefs are 1 great RB and 1 great DE away from being back on top.<\/p>\n

This goes back to the previous point.<\/p>\n

Depending on how free agency goes, Kansas City may need to spend picks on a running back and a defensive end. Even if everything goes right before the draft, it\u2019s still likely that Veach spends two picks on these positions.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s say the Chiefs sign Breece Hall: the first pick would most likely be spent on a defensive end or wide receiver, but you would assume the front office would draft a running back in the later rounds.<\/p>\n

Remember that Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt and Dameon Pierce are all free agents.<\/p>\n

Andy will be gone in two years.<\/p>\n

No one truly knows when Andy Reid will hang it up.<\/p>\n

If I had to make an educated guess, I would say he finishes out his contract that runs through the 2028 season. At that point, I believe Big Red calls it quits.<\/p>\n

This would give him three more seasons.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs defense missed JReid last season.<\/p>\n

When the Chiefs decided to move on without safety Justin Reid, most fans weren\u2019t upset.<\/p>\n

The thinking was that Jaden Hicks would take a major leap in his second season. Unfortunately, Hicks couldn\u2019t quite get there.<\/p>\n

Bryan Cook had an amazing year, but the other safety position wasn\u2019t nearly as strong.
