When the\u00a0San Francisco 49ers<\/a>\u00a0were announced as the “home” team for the NFL’s 2026 game in Mexico, we presumed the Denver Broncos<\/a>\u00a0could be a logical opponent<\/a> because they are among the Niners’ upcoming opponents, and both clubs hold marketing rights in Mexico.<\/p>\n However, ESPN’s Maico Pasquel<\/a> has reported that the Broncos<\/a> will not play in Mexico next season. Instead, Pasquel says the 49ers will host one of the Arizona Cardinals<\/a>, Miami Dolphins<\/a> or Los Angeles Rams<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Rams<\/a> are already set to host the Niners in Australia<\/a> this fall, so it would make sense if neither team got a true home-field advantage in their home-and-away division series.<\/p>\n With an unbalanced 17-game schedule, the AFC and NFC alternate hosting eight or nine home games. The NFC has nine home games this season, and the AFC will have nine next season.<\/p>\n Denver will be required to “host” an international game by the 2028 season<\/a>, and it would make sense to do so in a year that the club has an “extra” home game. And with Mexico being the team’s designated international market<\/a>, we might see the Broncos play south of the border as early as the 2027 season.<\/p>\n Need a news break?
