One potential target for the Houston Texans<\/a> in free agency is officially off the market.<\/p>\n According to reports, the Dallas Cowboys and running back Javonte Williams have agreed to terms on a three-year extension following his breakout season in Arlington. The total deal is worth $24 million, $16 million of which is guaranteed and includes a $6 million signing bonus, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.<\/p>\n Williams, who signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Cowboys this offseason, set career highs in rushing yards, carries and touchdowns last year. As one of the league’s more consistent backs, Williams finished 252 carries for 1,201 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He also remained healthy, something that cost him time in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n The Texans must address their rushing woes entering 2026. Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon missed all of last season after dealing with a lower-body injury suffered in the offseason. The only player returning from last year’s staff under contract is leading rusher Woody Marks, who is better suited as a No. 2 option rather than lead back.<\/p>\n With Williams off the board, the top names on the market include Seattle Seahawks<\/a>‘ Kenneth Walker, New York Jets’ Breece Hall, Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>‘ Travis Etienne Jr., Carolina Panthers<\/a>‘ Rico Dowdle and Atlanta Falcons’ Ty Allgeier.<\/p>\n
