<\/a>Readers here during The Lost Decade may remember the player Joe referred to as a \u201cmisplaced Calgary Stampeder.\u201d<\/p>\nThe Stampeders are a CFL team and former Bucs receiver Donteea Dye (2015-2018) had CFL written all over him.<\/p>\n
Joe was reminded of Dye thinking about Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton being a pending free agent.<\/p>\n
What an inspiring guy Singleton is, a real Jason Licht kind of lunchpail, climb-from-obscurity player. Singleton was undrafted out of Montana State and, after failing to stick with the Seahawks, Vikings and Belicheats, he spent a few seasons with, yes, the Calgary Stampeders.<\/p>\n
Singleton, 32, been back in the NFL for six seasons \u2014 three with the Eagles and three in Denver. He just completed his fourth year of 135 or more tackles. Simply put, Singleton is the kind of reliable, enthusiastic tackler the Bucs need.<\/p>\n
Yes, reports say the Broncos want him back, but Joe keeps seeing that Singleton won\u2019t command much more than $6 milion or $7 milion per year because of his age and ACL tear (knee) in 2024, and the testicular cancer scare he had last season.<\/p>\n
Overpaying slightly for a productive and popular guy like Singleton is probably the only way to get him. But it doesn\u2019t feel like it would take a painful amount of Team Glazer cash.<\/p>\n
