Danica Patrick<\/a> claims that the end of her relationship<\/a> with NFL star Aaron Rodgers<\/a> \u201cwore [her] down to nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was sudden [and] it felt like it was my life,\u201d Patrick, 43, said on the Wednesday, May 21, episode of \u201cThe Sage Steele Show\u201d podcast<\/a>, going on to describe her break up with the former Green Bay Packers athlete as the most painful thing she had ever experienced.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, when you live with somebody and it\u2019s, like, your whole life,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s your dentist appointment, it\u2019s your hairdo, it\u2019s your clothes, it\u2019s your mailing address. It\u2019s, like, everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The retired NASCAR driver went on to allege that the \u201cnature of the relationship was emotionally abusive,\u201d which she claimed \u201cwore [her] down to nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone that people could never imagine that I would lack any confidence or belief in the simple things about who I am,\u201d she claimed. \u201cYeah, everything was down to bits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick and Rodgers dated from 2018 to 2020. Patrick\u2019s rep confirmed to Us\u00a0that they were \u201cno longer together\u201d after she unfollowed the NFL star on social media.<\/p>\n

Rodgers has never publicly discussed the end of their two-year relationship at length, nor responded to Patrick\u2019s abuse allegations. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe leaves a trail of blood. I don\u2019t think I\u2019m saying too much earth-shattering stuff after there\u2019s been enough out there,\u201d Patrick quipped on Wednesday\u2019s episode. \u201c[The breakup] gave me the greatest gift, which was myself. I was, like, \u2018Wow.\u2019 It gave me the greatest gift of how much I needed to show up for myself and take care of myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

During her podcast interview, Patrick further admitted that she had ignored signs of the alleged abuse at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say, \u2018I\u2019m built for hard things. I can handle hard things,\u2019 and so, I just saw it as a hard thing,\u201d Patrick said. \u201cMy nature is to try harder and to do more, and I was like, \u2018What if I don\u2019t do it for the right person? What if I just get a stick up my a** about this and get too proud?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Patrick, she \u201cwished [she] would have tried\u201d to leave the situation earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have shame and I don\u2019t have regret because I know that everything leads to the next thing,\u201d she added. \u201cIt\u2019s all part of the path of learning the lessons and becoming who you are again. It\u2019s not that you\u2019re not going to go through hard times again, but learn how to get through them quicker [and] learn how to get through them more peacefully.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick later moved on with Carter Comstock before they split in 2022 after nearly one year together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018Is my judgment the best?\u2019 I don\u2019t know,\u201d Patrick exclusively joked to Us Weekly <\/a>in May 2022, referring to the split. \u201cI think that you just have to follow your heart and trust your intuition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rodgers, for his part, was briefly engaged to actress Shailene Woodley after he and Patrick went their separate ways. Their on-off relationship ended for good in 2022, before he found love again with a currently unidentified partner.<\/p>\n

Rodgers is an NFL free agent who has not yet formally signed with a new team ahead of the 2025-2026 season.<\/p>\n
