Bill Streicher-Imagn Images

Brown’s future has become a hot topic in Philadelphia following an uneven 2025 campaign that saw him and quarterback Jalen Hurts far too often not on the same page.

The former Ole Miss star caught just 78 passes for a career-low 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns across 15 games, including four games with no more than two catches.

Brown posted a cryptic message after a two-catch, seven-yard outing in a win against the Buccaneers in Week 4, and said in November he’s “struggling” amid a “s–tshow.”

The 28-year-old then had some fun during a recent spot with Patriots legends Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, where the latter two joked about him joining New England, and he winked and laughed. Brown did, though, later add that he was “just trolling” with his response.

There’s enough smoke that a potential trade seems plausible, however, the Eagles would eat plenty of dead cap space should they trade him before June 1 ($43 million in 2026) or after that date ($17 million in 2026, $26 million in 2027) due to the three-year, $96 million extension he signed through the 2029 season.

“Yeah, my expectation is (Brown) wants to be here. And obviously, you want good players like that in your building,” Sirianni said, per ESPN.

Nick Sirianni before the Week 18 finale against the Commanders. AP

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has repeatedly said that acquiring great players like Brown is always the goal for a franchise and reiterated that “subtracting” from that mix is not the plan.

However, Roseman, ever the trader, did not rule out any potential trade talks.

“I think you go into the league year listening to offers for everything and anything,” Roseman said, per ESPN. “If someone is going to give you something you didn’t anticipate and you won’t even have the conversation, I don’t think you’re necessarily doing your job or really servicing the team you’re with.

“You never know what someone is willing to do. Certainly, we’ve been in situations where there were guys we didn’t anticipate trading that we got an offer that was too good, and then you balance it with what you can get there.

“Without getting into specifics on any player, we’re always listening and we’re always kind of open. There’s very few things that I would shoot down without even hearing what that means, because how does it hurt to listen?”

Sirianni and Brown celebrate in 2023. Getty Images

Should Brown return, he and the Eagles will look to rebound from a disappointing end to the 2025 season.

While Philadelphia won the NFC East for the second straight year, the disjointed offense flamed out in a home wild-card loss to the 49ers.

Sirianni demoted offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, who later bolted for the Dolphins, while adding Sean Mannion to handle those duties.

One of Mannion’s main duties will surely be to find a way to open up the passing game and involve Brown more if he is still in Philadelphia.

“As Howie said, it’s hard to get good players in this league. A.J.’s a great player and A.J. is a good teammate and A.J. is a good person,” Sirianni said, per ESPN.

“Does he want to be here? Yes. Do I want him to be here?
