When the Minnesota Vikings\u2019 season ended, it seemed as though they would retain many of their key decision-makers. But after a closer examination of the disappointing 2025 season<\/a> and all the money they paid for that failure, they showed general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah the door.<\/p>\n In doing so, the Wilfs gave more power to head coach Kevin O\u2019Connell, more influence to Brian Flores<\/a> (who reportedly wasn\u2019t Kwesi\u2019s biggest fan), before ultimately naming longtime trusted executive Rob Brzezinski as the top executive in charge\u2026 at least for now.<\/p>\n When he was hired, Adofo-Mensah was a non-football guy stepping into a job traditionally held by guys who know how bread is buttered behind the NFL scenes. While the uniqueness made Kwesi an intriguing hire at the time, we know now that the Vikings\u2019 2022 GM experiment proved a failure.<\/p>\n Minnesota Vikings\u2019 canned GM lands back in San Francisco<\/p>\n It\u2019s been 24 days since the Minnesota Vikings terminated Kwesi Adofo-Mensah\u2019s contract<\/a>, which came less than a year after he signed an extension<\/a>. Still, he didn\u2019t stay unemployed for long.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, word is getting out that Kwesi is back in San Francisco with the 49ers. According to local reporter Nick Wagoner<\/a>, he is working in the Niners\u2019 front office \u2014 within the player personnel department \u2014 but he won\u2019t get an official job title from general manager John Lynch until after the draft.<\/p>\n Lynch said Kwesi Adofo-Mensah reached out to him after losing job in Minnesota and their reunion happened “organically.” <\/p>\n “We’re bringing him back in a personnel executive role that after the draft, I think we hope to give more finality to, but we’re excited to have him back.” https:\/\/t.co\/lOiFxOL5Ax<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) February 24, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n Related: MN Vikings Admit Their Timeline is Not Aligned w\/JJ McCarthy<\/a><\/p>\n The 49ers were the first organization to employ Adofo-Mensah after his transition from Wall Street to professional sports player personnel management.<\/p>\n Initially, he was hired on as Manager of Football Research and Development, before eventually being promoted to Director. He worked in San Francisco from 2013 through 2019<\/a>, before leaving to become Vice President of Football Operations for the Cleveland Browns, then the MN Vikings in 2022.<\/p>\n Kwesi Adofo-Mensah lasted four years in Minnesota, where his draft failures ultimately foiled his shot at running an NFL front office.
