Howie Roseman sounds like a general manager who is prepared to get raided. \u201cI think from a big picture perspective, we want to build a team that every year has a chance to compete for championships, that drafts really well and signs their own players and just sporadically goes into free agency,\u201d Roseman said. \u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019re trying to do. [\u2026] \u201cAnd I think last year, I said to you guys, over a two-year period, it\u2019s going to be hard for us, unless we make major moves to subtract, to really make some sort of splash move that costs money because we like the players we have drafted and want them as a big part of our next few years as well.\u201d Expect the Eagles to target players who either don\u2019t cost enough to count toward the comp pick formula, or who have been released by their previous team (and thus won\u2019t count toward the formula either).<\/p>\n
On safety Reed Blankenship and linebacker Nakobe Dean: \u201cReally proud of Reed, undrafted free agent, and played in two Super Bowls, four years, four playoff appearances. Was a captain this year for our team, tremendous player, tremendous person.\u201d Roseman wasn\u2019t asked directly about linebacker Nakobe Dean, but when the topic of 2025 first rounder Jihaad Campbell stepping back into a starting role was brought up, he brought up Dean. \u201cObviously, we have a free agent at that position, a guy that we drafted, a guy that we think is a really good player, and unbelievable character,\u201d Roseman said. \u201cAnd so, all those decisions here [will be] made in the next couple of weeks.\u201d Still, it seems unlikely that Dean will be back. Blankenship\u2019s future in Philly seems more dependent upon his leaguewide value or whether the Eagles can afford Phillips or not.<\/p>\n
The Eagles obviously don\u2019t HAVE to trade McKee if they don\u2019t want to do so. There\u2019s value in him being the backup to Hurts for at least one more season. But if the Birds do hang onto McKee, he\u2019ll likely leave Philly as a free agent after the 2026 season in search of an NFL home where he has a better path to playing time. So, it\u2019s feasible that the Eagles and Jets could make a deal. Former Eagles executive Daniel Jeremiah, who knows Howie Roseman well, also recently suggested as much.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles Chargers: The Chargers passing game limped along on a hope and a prayer in 2025 with Ladd McConkey being the only real bright spot. The team has indicated a desire to bring back veteran Keenan Allen, and they have a lot of receivers in the room \u2014 but having a lot of guys, and having quality guys are mutually exclusive in this case. If we look at the Chargers\u2019 offense there\u2019s a lot of work to be done, even with Jim Harbaugh\u2019s run-first proclivities. Teams were able to stack the box because they didn\u2019t respect the deep ball enough, which is where Brown could open everything up. It\u2019s also becoming apparent that Quentin Johnson is likely never going to be more than a 2nd or 3rd option on the team, which is something the Chargers need to just accept and move on. With a metric ton of cap space and an obvious need, Brown would be a great fit on the Chargers.<\/p>\n
A.J. BROWN to the BUFFALO BILLS. If you\u2019re tired of hearing about the annual drama involving Brown and the Eagles, just imagine how Philadelphia might feel. Is trading Brown a smart move? Absolutely not. GM Howie Roseman said it best after the trade deadline passed in November: \u201cYou don\u2019t get rid of guys like that.\u201d But this relationship sure feels like it\u2019s headed toward a divorce, even after the Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. If so, the Eagles won\u2019t have a hard time finding interested trade partners. They might be able to extract the most value from a team like the Bills, who have desperately needed a top receiver ever since they sent Stefon Diggs to Houston. Brown would give Josh Allen the star target he\u2019s lacked in recent years and might welcome a fresh start with another title contender. It should cost the Bills a significant amount, but if ever there were a time for Buffalo to push all of its chips to the center of the table, it\u2019s now.<\/p>\n
The Eagles didn\u2019t rush. They cast a wide net and took their time. After moving on from Kevin Patullo following a disappointing 2025 season, the Eagles launched a lengthy search for their next offensive coordinator that ultimately landed on 33-year-old Sean Mannion. \u201cYou just could tell right away how sharp he was and then we get him here to the building, it was very obvious,\u201d Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said ahead of the NFL Combine. \u201cWhen you do that and when you cast a wide net and you go through the process like that, it reveals itself to you of who the right one is.\u201d The Eagles hope they nailed their pick. Because there\u2019s no doubt that hiring a 33-year-old coordinator with two years of coaching experience is a big swing. But the Eagles seem very excited about the direction of the offense under Mannion. According to Sirianni, the Eagles interviewed 17 different candidates and Mannion was one of seven who got a second interview. The Eagles went through the full process.<\/p>\n
Next season, Patullo will receive another shot as the Dolphins\u2019 pass-game coordinator, and new Miami head coach Jeff Hafley is excited to have him on staff. \u201cWhen I interviewed him, I was blown away \u2014 the knowledge that he has, the football experience that he has, what he did for that entire organization,\u201d Hafley said Tuesday at the NFL Combine. \u201cDon\u2019t forget: He won a Super Bowl and behind the scenes, what he did with that offense and with that whole team, listening to him talk and his football knowledge, not just about offense, but about game management, about situational football.\u201d<\/p>\n
23) Philadelphia Eagles. Kenyon Sadiq, TE, Oregon. If Philadelphia doesn\u2019t bring back free agent Dallas Goedert, it would be smart to draft a top-end replacement. Quarterback Jalen Hurts found Goedert for a team-high 11 receiving touchdowns last season, and he was the third-most-targeted pass catcher on the roster. In other words, Hurts likes throwing to his TE1. Sadiq had eight touchdown receptions last season, and he\u2019s explosive and does a lot of damage after the catch. NFC defenses would have a tough time matching up with him because of his speed and 6-foot-3, 245-pound size.<\/p>\n
For me, Jeff Stoutland\u2019s departure was a \u201cYikes!\u201d moment. Yes, I want to see more play-action, more under-center work, maybe some outside zone running. If Stout really wasn\u2019t comfortable with those things, then maybe there was no way to keep him. It sure seemed, though, that Stoutland felt disrespected by some things Sirianni did during the season. I\u2019d like to know the details there. From a distance, I don\u2019t like that one darned bit. If there was a way to salvage this, and Nick didn\u2019t, well, I think if things go bad this year we will look back on Stoutland\u2019s departure as an inflection point. Sirianni wasn\u2019t talking about Stoutland when he said this Tuesday, but you could certainly ponder the implications in a Stoutland context: \u201cYou\u2019re a product of the people that you have around you, both players and coaches, as a head coach.\u201d Come to think of it, you could look at Brown in that context, as well.<\/p>\n
11) Yes, I\u2019m ranking the Eagles outside the top 10, but I\u2019d be remiss not to acknowledge that this team is just one year removed from winning a Super Bowl and that the key pieces from that 2025 postseason run are still on the roster. It\u2019s entirely possible that one of the league\u2019s best rosters will overwhelm its opponents en route to a deep run next season, because we\u2019ve seen it happen multiple times. But Philadelphia has some question marks, starting with receiver A.J. Brown\u2019s status. Is he part of this team\u2019s long-term offensive plan?<\/p>\n

Broncos coach Sean Payton is back on the Competition Committee. And he\u2019s not afraid to share his opinions about league rules. During his Tuesday press conference at the Scouting Combine, Payton was asked about last year\u2019s opposition to the tush push, which came within two votes of ending it. \u201cI don\u2019t think the push sneak \u2014 I think if that ever goes away, it\u2019s not a health and safety thing,\u201d Payton told reporters. \u201cWe discussed that last year for two hours and we just adopted a thousand more kick returns. Which play do you think is more of a health risk? A thousand more kick returns. So I think if we choose to ever move on from that, it won\u2019t be because of health and safety. It will just be like, \u2018We don\u2019t like it.\u2019 Which is OK.\u201d<\/p>\n
DLLS\u2019 Clarence Hill Jr. reported the news on Tuesday afternoon from the NFL combine where rumors and reports are swirling. There are no details associated with the report so many are left to guess as to what \u201chighest-paid\u201d actually means. Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is currently the top paid kicker in the league. He signed a four-year extension with Kansas City shortly ahead of the 2024 season. It was worth over $25M and had almost $18M fully guaranteed. [BLG Note: Aubrey is reportedly asking for $10 million per year \u2026 which is significantly more than Butker\u2019s league-leading $6.4 million per year.]<\/p>\n
Washington had the oldest team in the league last year, and Adam Peters will look to get away from that distinction, while still filling a roster that has over 30 pending free agents. Some people are still holding out hope for Sinnott to step into a bigger role, but his production didn\u2019t rise significantly with Ertz out. The Commanders have plenty of cap space heading into free agency if they want to replace Ertz with a younger TE like the Ravens\u2019 Isaiah Likely. They also have six picks in April\u2019s draft, with the potential to add more through trades. If Ertz is ready to go by Week 1(ish), should Washington bring back one of Jayden Daniels\u2019 most reliable receiving options. Or is it time to move on, especially with a player coming back from a major injury?<\/p>\n
One of those changes was hiring Dawn Aponte as Senior Vice President of Football Operations and Strategy, and having Aponte report to Harbaugh rather than Schoen. Harbaugh having greater control over more areas of the organization than any other Giants\u2019 coach, and the reality that Aponte reports to Harbaugh, give the impression that Schoen\u2019s role has been marginalized and that he is no longer the final decision-maker. Schoen bristled on Tuesday at the notion that certain areas of responsibility, like contracts, were perhaps no longer his. \u201cI\u2019m still the general manager of the team and my role has not changed,\u201d Schoen said. \u201cI\u2019m still tasked with leading the entire football operation. And we\u2019re going to work in collaboration like most good teams do. \u201cAnd it\u2019s going to be collaborative. Everybody\u2019s going to have their role, but there\u2019s constant communication between Dawn, Coach Harbaugh, myself in terms of how we\u2019re going to build the football operation. And then how we\u2019re going to execute the draft, trades, free agency, contract signings, coaching staff, whatever it may be. We\u2019re going to work in collaboration together. We\u2019re aligned in that, and it\u2019s been going really good so far.\u201d<\/p>\n
