After Adam Schefter reported Tuesday<\/a>, citing league sources,\u00a0that\u00a0Trent Williams<\/a>\u00a0and the 49ers \u201ccurrently are struggling to find a contractual solution,” San Francisco\u2019s general manager\/president of football operations John Lynch told reporters that he has \u201ca great deal of confidence\u201d a deal with the 12-time Pro Bowl tackle will get done.<\/p>\n \u201cIn recent weeks, I\u2019ve met with both Trent and with his agent, Vincent Taylor, and had really good and substantive meetings,\u201d Lynch told reporters Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine. \u201cHere\u2019s what I know: Trent loves being a Niner, we love having Trent as a Niner and it\u2019s up to us to figure that out and to thread that needle.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is some unique circumstances in that we all know what Trent is as a player, how great of a player he\u2019s been. He\u2019s going to be 38 years old and so there\u2019s some things that go into that, but I think we\u2019re all on the same page and feel very positive about where that\u2019s going.\u201d<\/p>\n Williams, who\u2019s in the final year of a three-year, $83 million contract extension<\/a>, is set to make over $22 million in 2026 while also accruing a $10 million signing bonus that goes into effect.<\/p>\n “I mean, I’m always fascinated by all the things that Trent’s got going on in his mind and I really am. I’ve got a great deal of confidence that we’ll figure that out, and it’s just strictly because the motivation is there for both sides, and I think we can get that done,” Lynch said later in a scrum with Bay Area reporters.<\/p>\n This isn’t the first time San Francisco and Williams have had contract issues — the tackle spent 40 days holding out prior to the 2024 NFL season<\/a> before the two came to that previously mentioned contract agreement.<\/p>\n If the two sides aren\u2019t able to come to an agreement<\/a>, the 15-year vet would likely become the top tackle<\/a> in all of NFL free agency, surpassing Jermaine Eluemunor, 31, and Rasheed Walker, 26.<\/p>\n The three-time All-Pro selection has played in 84 games \u2013 all starts — with San Francisco since joining the team in 2020 and has been a top-tier tackle earning five Pro Bowl selections during that tenure.<\/p>\n
