Jon-Eric Sullivan, the team’s new general manager, has already stated that he’d like to add a couple more picks to his arsenal. With plenty of holes in the roster and so much uncertainty surrounding the organization, the Dolphins could look to address pretty much any position besides running back when they’re on the clock once pick #11 arrives.

One position group that could use an infusion of young talent is the cornerback room — which, in 2025, was led by 31 year-old journeyman defensive back, Rasul Douglas.

Well, according to the player himself, the Dolphins plan to meet with one of the top cornerbacks available in this year’s selection process — Mansoor Delane out of LSU. Delane was recruited by Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley when Hafley was the coach at Boston College, although he ultimately decided to join Virginia Tech before transferring to LSU for his senior season.

Delane — 22 years-old — stands 6’0” tall and weighs 190 lb. During his college career, he totaled 8 interceptions, 27 passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 191 tackles. He was voted a Consensus All-American for his 2025 campaign with LSU.

Delane, widely considered to be the number one cornerback in the 2026 NFL Draft — especially with Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy still unable to workout or participate in drills following an ACL tear in January 2025 that caused him to miss the entire 2025 college season — would be a major addition to Miami’s roster if he were to be selected by Sullivan in late April.

Here’s what NFL Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah had to say about Delane in his NFL Draft profile:

Delane is one of the top cornerbacks in a CB-rich draft. He excels in press coverage, altering release timing with punches and slides. Smooth hips and efficient footwork keep him connected in man coverage, while his processing allows for quick transitions in off-man and short zone looks. He has good top-end speed for vertical phasing but is inconsistent turning to find the football. While he locks in on the route at times, he’s rarely oblivious to the quarterback’s actions, allowing him to slam catch windows shut and play the football. He played through a core muscle injury for much of the 2025 season and still performed at an elite level. Delane’s emergence over the past two years might be indicative of what’s to come, as he’s shown lockdown potential.

___

How would you grade the pick if the Dolphins selected Delane in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft?
