{"id":778737,"date":"2026-02-27T00:27:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T00:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/778737\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T00:27:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T00:27:15","slug":"report-trace-mcsorley-leaving-penn-state-for-buffalo-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/778737\/","title":{"rendered":"REPORT: Trace McSorley Leaving Penn State for Buffalo Bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Another Penn State assistant coach has departed for the NFL, this time it\u2019s assistant quarterbacks coach and program legend Trace McSorley. <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/college\/penn-state\/board\/18\/contents\/source-trace-mcsorley-departs-penn-state-for-nfl-opportunity-275660226\/?page=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">According to Lions247<\/a>, McSorley is leaving for a position with the Buffalo Bills, which will reunite him with former PSU graduate assistant Joe Brady, who worked as then-offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead\u2019s right-hand man in 2015 and 2016, when Trace was quarterbacking the Nittany Lions to a Big Ten championship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Trace was poised to spend a second season in Happy Valley after being retained by head coach Matt Campbell to be an assistant to current QB coach Jake Waters. However, when the NFL comes calling, it\u2019s very difficult for a young, aspiring coach to turn down such an opportunity, especially when said opportunity involves working with Josh Allen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">This is the second time in the past month that the NFL has plucked a PSU assistant coach, as Noah Pauley\u2019s six-week tenure as wide receivers coach ended when he left for the same position by the Green Bay Packers. Perhaps someday, we\u2019ll see Trace return to PSU as an offensive coordinator or maybe even a head coach.
