After weeks of speculation, the NFL officially announced their salary cap for the 2026 season at $301.2 million. Last year’s salary cap had been $279.2 million, so this jump over the last year is $22 million.<\/p>\n

While that may seem like a lot, it’s actually on the lower end of the estimation that had been thrown out before, which could cause more of an issue for the Miami Dolphins.<\/a><\/p>\n

According to Over the Cap<\/a>, the Dolphins<\/a> have 10th-least cap space in the NFL in 2026 at $881,563. That’s quite the disparity from the Tennessee Titans<\/a> who have $94.8 million atop the NFL as the only team with more than $90 million.<\/p>\n

Miami will have to make some moves to open up cap space this offseason, and things will only get more difficult when if the team moves on from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa<\/a>, whose release after June 1 would cost another $11 million.<\/p>\n

It looks like new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is getting an early test.<\/p>\n
