On the same day the Steelers received the worst grades in the entire league in the NFL Players Association\u2019s leaked 2026 team report cards<\/a> \u2014 including an \u201cF-\u201d in the \u201chome game field\u201d category \u2014 Steelers owner Art Rooney II announced Pittsburgh\u2019s Acrisure Stadium will be resurfaced ahead of the new season, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u2019s Gerry Dulac<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The playing field will be resurfaced with Tahoma 31 Bermuda, \u201ca mixture of Bermuda and bluegrass grown on plastic sheets,\u201d Dulac reported. Previously, the stadium used Kentucky bluegrass.<\/p>\n

Dulac noted the team\u2019s new grass blend is already used at the home stadiums of the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears. Tahoma 31<\/a> was also the playing surface of Super Bowl LVII, which was heavily criticized<\/a> for its slippery field conditions, but Dulac\u2019s article states it was because the sod was installed too late.<\/p>\n

For what it\u2019s worth, the Bears scored a \u201cC\u201d in the home game field category, and the Eagles an \u201cA,\u201d in the leaked 2026 report cards<\/a> acquired by ESPN.<\/p>\n

Both the Steelers and the NCAA\u2019s Pitt Panthers play home games at Acrisure Stadium, leading to more wear and tear on the field than some other NFL venues.
