Cleveland Browns<\/a> defensive end Myles Garrett is at the center of trade rumors for the second offseason in a row.<\/p>\n

Garrett set the single-season record for sacks (23) this past season. The Defensive Player of the Year also had 60 tackles, 39 QB hits, 33 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. He was truly a one-man wrecking crew for the Browns. Although he’s under contract through the 2030 season, there are people who believe he should be on the trade block this offseason.<\/p>\n

On this Friday’s episode of “Get Up” on ESPN, former NFL<\/a> general manager Mike Tannebaum suggested the Browns should trade Garrett to the Detroit Lions<\/a> for two first-round picks and wide receiver Jameson Williams.<\/p>\n

“You need so many weapons, you have so many holes to fill,” Tannenbaum said<\/a>. “If I’m the Browns, I do this to start the massive rebuild.”<\/p>\n

Tannenbaum may love his trade proposal, but Cleveland fans find it to be unrealistic.<\/p>\n

“The Browns cannot refuse this imaginary offer. Listen to me because I was such a successful GM,” a fan sarcastically replied. “Pay no attention to the dead cap it will cause this year.”<\/p>\n

“The cap hit isn\u2019t worth anything less than 3 plus first round picks,” a second fan argued.<\/p>\n

“Maxx Crosby stuff ain’t working so pivot back to Myles Garrett….rinse, repeat, every off season,” a social media user wrote.<\/p>\n

“Browns aren’t trading him stop wasting air time on it,” another fan commented.<\/p>\n

Don’t expect a Myles Garrett trade to happen.<\/p>\n

If the Browns were to trade Garrett before June 1, they’d take on $40.818 million in dead money and would lose cap space in the process. A post-June 1 trade wouldn’t solve their financial issues either.<\/p>\n

Whether Garrett likes it or not, Cleveland has no incentive to trade him. Not only would it be a move that makes zero sense from a financial perspective, he’s playing so well that trading him would alienate the fan base.<\/p>\n

The NFL’s new league year will begin on March 11. Any chatter about Garrett’s future is meaningless until then.<\/p>\n
