{"id":781493,"date":"2026-02-28T05:46:01","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T05:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/781493\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T05:46:01","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T05:46:01","slug":"sorry-pass-defense-joebucsfan-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/781493\/","title":{"rendered":"Sorry Pass Defense &#8211; JoeBucsFan.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tSorry Pass Defense<br \/>\nFebruary 28th, 2026 <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/bowles-0104.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-391591\" class=\"size-full wp-image-391591\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/bowles-0104.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"242\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-391591\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At least pass defense is consistent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">No one who is considered a defensive guru allows this to happen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Since Bucs coach Todd Bowles arrived in Tampa Bay in 2019, the Bucs pass defense has almost always finished ranked in the 20s for passing yards allowed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That shouldn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The one year that Bowles and the Bucs had a good pass defense was in 2022, Bowles\u2019 first season as Bucs head coach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sharpfootballanalysis.com\/analysis\/2026-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-all-32-teams-ryan-mccrystal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">is another example<\/a> from Ryan McCrystal of Sharp Football Analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Allowed 7.9 yards per attempt when the defense failed to generate pressure, ranked 27th.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">While that suggests the Bucs can\u2019t get after the quarterback \u2014 what\u2019s new? \u2014 Joe will suggest the 7.9 yards per pass attempt is pretty close to par for the course with the Bucs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Consider that the Bucs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamrankings.com\/nfl\/stat\/opponent-yards-per-pass-attempt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">finished 26th overall<\/a> in passing yards allowed per attempt. That includes all opponents\u2019 passes, not just passes without pressure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So no matter how you slice it, the Bucs pass defense stinks.
