The Washington Commander<\/a>s coaching staff has undergone a multitude of changes this offseason. After firing defensive coordinator Joe Whitt and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, the Commanders<\/a> shuffled the staff around. They brought in some new faces and kept some familiar ones, and it seems like they’ve finally solidified the entire coaching staff.<\/p>\n The one thing the Commanders were missing was a passing game coordinator after Brian Johnson left the organization last week. And they addressed that problem on Friday by promoting tight ends coach David Raih.<\/p>\n Raih joined the Commanders in 2024 as part of head coach Dan Quinn’s original staff. The tight ends’ room wasn’t a problem in 2025, and Raih has been coaching since he graduated from college. Raih was one of five candidates to interview for Washington’s offensive coordinator after parting ways with Kliff Kingsbury.<\/p>\n The Commanders chose David Blough over Raih and Johnson, among others. Raih came to Washington with Kingsbury, but in addition to being on Washington’s staff with Blough the last two years, he was an assistant with the Arizona Cardinals when Blough played quarterback there for Kingsbury.<\/p>\n A former quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Raigh has spent time coaching at both the collegiate and professional levels. He’s been everything from an intern to an offensive coordinator, an analyst, and just about everything in between. With his experience as a player, combined with his experience as a coach, Raih has a good idea of what it takes to have a solid passing game in the NFL.<\/p>\n
