He sent a message about his future. When asked about a possible reunion with the Cleveland Browns’ new head coach, Todd Monken, Beck did not hesitate. His response instantly added fresh tension to the ongoing debate over Shedeur Sanders Brown’s future. The Browns are entering a defining offseason after a 5-12 finish in 2025 that cost Kevin Stefanski his job. With Monken now leading the franchise, Cleveland has opened the quarterback competition. That shift alone creates uncertainty for Shedeur Sanders, who closed his rookie season as the starter but now faces a very different power structure inside the building.

Carson Beck’s Todd Monken connection could directly impact Shedeur Sanders’ standing in Cleveland

The biggest factor in this situation is familiarity. Beck played three seasons under Monken at Georgia, where the current Browns head coach served as offensive coordinator. In 34 games with Monken calling plays, Beck threw for 7,736 yards and 56 touchdowns against 18 interceptions. That production came within a system Monken designed and trusted.Speaking to reporters at the Combine on February 27 in Indianapolis, Beck said, “I love him personally. I’ve actually known him since I was 7 or 8 years old.” He explained that he even played youth baseball with Monken’s son when Monken coached receivers in Jacksonville. That kind of history goes beyond football. It builds comfort and trust, which often matter in quarterback decisions. As per the news, he has also met the NY Jets and the Miami Dolphins.Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders showed steady growth late in 2025. He finished with a 3-4 record as a starter, throwing for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns. Stefanski, now with the Atlanta Falcons, recently said on a podcast during Combine week, “I love Shedeur. I loved coaching him… he’s a young player that’s getting better.” However, those words carry little weight in the current structure since Stefanski no longer influences Cleveland’s decisions. The Browns also drafted Dillon Gabriel and continue to evaluate Deshaun Watson’s status. Monken and the front office have publicly stated that every position remains open. That includes the quarterback. If Beck joins Cleveland, he would not arrive as a developmental project. He would arrive with system knowledge and a direct connection to the head coach. As a result, the competition would intensify immediately. Sanders now must prove he can lead a new staff, master a revised scheme, and hold off a quarterback who already knows the coach’s blueprint.

Carson Beck’s Browns interest under Todd Monken could shakeup Shedeur Sanders’ future in Cleveland Browns (Image via Getty)…

[2054
110694,86,2037,85,54,2337,1033,7,8591,6,1967,139,17,110695,13257,23813
post-781836","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cleveland-browns","tag-becks-todd-monken","tag-browns","tag-carson-beck","tag-cleveland","tag-cleveland-browns","tag-clevelandbrowns","tag-dillon-gabriel","tag-football","tag-kevin-stefanski","tag-nfl","tag-nfl-scouting-combine","tag-shedeur","tag-shedeur-sanders","tag-shedeur-sanders-browns-future","tag-stefanski","tag-todd-monken
["GET
