The Dallas Cowboys<\/a> re-signed Javonte Williams to a three-year, $24 million contract with $16 million guaranteed, but that doesn\u2019t mean they aren\u2019t still in the market for another running back.<\/p>\n

Williams, 25, is fresh off a 1,201-yard, 11-touchdown year \u2014 the first 1,000-yard season of his career \u2014 and he\u2019s in line to be Dallas\u2019 lead back for the next handful of years.<\/p>\n

But that hasn\u2019t stopped the draft gurus from linking the Cowboys to Notre Dame<\/a> running back Jeremiyah Love, who\u2019s widely regarded as the best tailback in the 2026 draft class.<\/p>\n

Love was asked by reporters on Friday at the combine if he had spoken with \u201cAmerica\u2019s Team\u201d since he got to Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho is that?\u201d Love asked.<\/p>\n

A reporter clarified he meant the Cowboys, to which Love couldn\u2019t recall whether or not he spoke with them before admitting that his father was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan who didn\u2019t like Dallas.<\/p>\n

Then the awkward part of the interview came when Love was asked, \u201cWhat it would be like wearing the star on your helmet?\u201d After an uncomfortable moment of silence, Love finally replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cUm, I mean\u2026[expletive],\u201d Love said as he clumsily tried to find the correct response before quickly trying to change the subject. \u201cI\u2019m just blessed to go anywhere. It\u2019d be an honor to wear the star or any other team as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Judging from Love\u2019s reaction, it appeared Dallas wasn\u2019t high on the list of teams he hopes draft him. The Kansas City Chiefs, however, presumably are.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am from St. Louis, so I\u2019d be close to home,\u201d Love stated<\/a> when asked about potentially being drafted by Kansas City. \u201cEspecially playing with Patrick Mahomes. I feel like he\u2019s the best quarterback right now, the best in the league \u2014 top one \u2014 so it\u2019d be an honor to play with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
