How and When They Joined the Browns<\/p>\n
After being a 6th round pick by the Bengals in 2019 and spending the first six years of his career there, Williams joined the Browns at the beginning of training camp in 2025. He didn\u2019t make the final roster, but was signed to the practice squad briefly before being released. When the Browns faced running back injuries late in the season, Williams, who was now on the Chargers\u2019 practice squad, was signed straight to Cleveland\u2019s active roster.<\/p>\n
Productivity Level Last Season<\/p>\n
In the preseason, Williams had 5 carries for 26 yards (5.2 YPC), and 5 catches for 33 yards.<\/p>\n

In four games at the end of the regular season, Williams had 7 carries for 37 yards (5.3 YPC). He also caught 7 passes for 55 yards. He also served as the team\u2019s kick returner for those final four games, returning 6 kicks for 139 yards (23.2 average).<\/p>\n
What the Browns Should Do<\/p>\n
Williams was released from the Browns\u2019 practice squad in September, and was only brought back late in the season because he had spent time in the system in training camp. The Browns did retain Duce Staley as their running backs coach, so there\u2019s a small chance Williams could be brought back for continuity purposes. However, they already have Dylan Sampson, Raheim Sanders, and Ahmani Marshall on the roster (as Quinshon Judkins heals up), so I think it\u2019s more likely they just add another undrafted free agent in camp.<\/p>\n
