{"id":783729,"date":"2026-03-01T05:34:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T05:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/783729\/"},"modified":"2026-03-01T05:34:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T05:34:15","slug":"womens-asian-cup-iran-team-trying-to-focus-on-football-as-us-israel-bomb-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/783729\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s Asian Cup: Iran team trying to focus on football, as US, Israel bomb country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Football chiefs offered \u201cfull support and assistance\u201d to the Iranian team in Australia Sunday for the Women\u2019s Asian Cup after the United States and Israel launched massive attacks on their homeland.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Iran\u2019s 26-strong squad arrived on the Gold Coast days before the strikes on Saturday killed supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as Washington and Tel Aviv seek to topple the Islamic republic.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">They are expected to open their tournament on Monday against South Korea.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The Asian Football Confederation said in a statement it \u201ccontinues to closely monitor the recent developments in the Middle East during this challenging period\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe AFC\u2019s foremost priority remains the welfare, safety and security of all players, coaches, officials and fans,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cIn this regard, we are in close and regular contact with the Iran women\u2019s national team and officials on the Gold Coast and are offering our full support and assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Iranian women\u2019s coach Marziyeh Jafari (left) and captain Zahra Ghanbari stuck to football during the press conference.
