After BYU didn\u2019t have a player selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, this year\u2019s draft could see multiple former Cougars hear their names called.<\/p>\n

Among those possible draftees are Chase Roberts and Jack Kelly, who each participated in the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis this week.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how Roberts and Kelly performed in their drills and how each of them ranked among other players at their positions.<\/p>\n

Chase Roberts\u2019 NFL combine results<\/p>\n

40-yard dash: 4.64 seconds (34th among wide receivers).<\/p>\n

Vertical jump: 37 inches (15th).<\/p>\n

Broad jump: 10 feet, six inches (16th).<\/p>\n

10-yard split: 1.6 seconds (30th).<\/p>\n

What are analysts saying about Chase Roberts as a draft prospect?<\/p>\n

\u201c(Roberts) has good size and adequate speed but won\u2019t be an NFL separator on deep throws,\u201d wrote NFL analyst Lance Zierlein<\/a>. \u201cHe runs routes with good disguise and above-average technique. He lacks foot quickness for easy press release but has the footwork necessary to get in and out of breaks cleanly over the first two levels. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe plays tough through contact and is an above-average combat-catch winner. He\u2019s slow to gain positioning on 50\/50s downfield, though. Roberts is an older prospect, which could impact his draft slotting, but he has the size and talent to make a roster.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chase Roberts\u2019 career at BYU<\/p>\n

A four-year starter for the Cougars, Roberts ranks eighth on the all-time program leaderboard in receptions (170), seventh in receiving yards (2,586) and 12th in touchdowns (18).<\/p>\n

In the past two seasons as a team captain, Roberts surpassed 800 receiving yards each year and scored 10 total touchdowns, earning All Big-12 Third Team honors in 2025.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Jack Kelly\u2019s NFL combine results<\/p>\n

40-yard dash: 4.57 seconds (eighth among linebackers).<\/p>\n

Vertical jump: 37 inches (11th).<\/p>\n

Broad jump: 10 feet, five inches (seventh).<\/p>\n

3-cone drill: 7.12 seconds (seventh).<\/p>\n

20-yard shuttle: 4.19 seconds (tied for first).<\/p>\n

10-yard split: 1.61 seconds (10th).<\/p>\n

\u201cKelly is a burly linebacker with adequate play speed and desired aggression,\u201d wrote Zierlein<\/a>. \u201cHis reaction time is average but his struggles to find his leverage and fit as a run defender pop up too often on tape. He has a strong punch but short arms and can get stuck to blockers who sink their hands in. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s adequate in coverage but above average as a blitzer and has some juice when he rushes off the edge. Kelly might need to star on special teams to find a role as an even-front linebacker with third-down value.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jack Kelly\u2019s career at BYU<\/p>\n

In two years with the Cougars after transferring from Weber State, Kelly recorded 105 total tackles with 15 sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception.<\/p>\n

As a senior in 2025, Kelly earned First Team All-Big 12 honors and became the first BYU player in 10 years to post 10 sacks in a season.<\/p>\n
