During a conference call with reporters earlier last week, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah gave his opinion about the Denver Broncos<\/a>‘ positions of need. One of the most glaring areas of need has been the tight end room, where the Broncos<\/a> have struggled to gain production both in blocking and pass catching.<\/p>\n Jeremiah gave his opinion on three prospects Denver could snag with a Day 2 pick: Stanford’s Sam Roush, University of Michigan’s Marlin Klein and Ohio State’s Max Klare.<\/p>\n “One interesting name I would throw out there would be Roush from Stanford, who, you talk about a traditional ‘Y,’ he’s one of the best blockers of the group,” Jeremiah said. “He’s almost 6-6, 260 pounds. Just a really, really good blocker. Stays connected, he finishes. The thing with him is he’s actually a pretty smooth mover and moves well for his size. And he’s just had some drops. He had seven drops this year, so, not quite as consistent. That’ll probably ding him a little bit as you go through the process. Denver’s third pick is 94 … maybe he goes a little later than that, but that’s kind of a traditional hand-in-the-ground (tight end) ‘Y.'”<\/p>\n Roush was a productive member of the Cardinal as they transitioned from Pac-12 play to the ACC. Roush caught 119 passes for 1,201 yards and four touchdowns in his four-year career. NFL.com Lance Zierlein has compared him to Dawson Knox<\/a> of the Buffalo Bills<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jeremiah then pivoted to Klein, who was a part of Michigan’s 2023 national championship team. “I would say one with some upside in that mix would be, Klein, I’ve talked about from Michigan, who I think’s got more ahead of him, but he’s got that big frame, kind of be a hand-in-the-ground guy, as well,” Jeremiah said.<\/p>\n Need a news break? One could comfortably compare him to the Broncos<\/a>‘ 2025 seventh-round draft pick, tight end Caleb Lohner, who also had limited experience as a football player.<\/p>\n The third player Jeremiah mentioned was Buckeyes tight end Klare. “Max Klare is my favorite of the bunch, but that would \u2014 that would be at pick 62,” Jeremiah said. “I think that’s a great value for him would be at pick 62 for Max Klare out of Ohio State.”<\/p>\n Klare has great pass-catching ability from the Big 10<\/a>, which has produced a host of NFL talent, especially at the tight end position. Klare spent three seasons at Penn State before transferring to Ohio State for his final season.
