{"id":784204,"date":"2026-03-01T11:04:35","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T11:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/784204\/"},"modified":"2026-03-01T11:04:35","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T11:04:35","slug":"cole-kmet-trade-interest-from-new-england-patriots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/784204\/","title":{"rendered":"Cole Kmet trade interest from New England Patriots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicitysports.com\/chicagobears\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Bears<\/a> drafted one of the best young tight ends in the NFL last year. Taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicitysports.com\/chicago-bears-colston-loveland-draws-attention-offseason-move\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colston Loveland<\/a> with the tenth overall pick may have been questionable at the time, but it sure worked out to Chicago\u2019s benefit. He ended his rookie campaign with 58 receptions for 712 yards and six touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Loveland\u2019s emergence was, indeed, a pleasant development for the Bears offense. However, it also made veteran tight end <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KmetCo00.htm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cole Kmet<\/a> expendable. Rebilas-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While there is some buzz in Chicago that Kmet may will be retained via contract restructure, it has not been enough to quell the trade rumors. In a recent article posted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/musketfire.com\/bears-rumored-move-could-hand-patriots-a-massive-offensive-upgrade-01kj3fdcmx2e\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mustket Fire<\/a>, New England Patriots writer Sara Marshall states that the AFC Champions should explore trading for the Bears tight end:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause the Bears appear to have hit the jackpot when they selected Colston Loveland in last year\u2019s draft, there\u2019s a good chance that they\u2019ll be willing to move Kmet this offseason.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\">\u201cHe\u2019s exactly the kind of player the Patriots will likely be looking for, and although he doesn\u2019t put up numbers like a Rob Gronkowski,\u00a0he\u2019s reliable, as he\u2019s only missed two games in his six-year career, and he consistently performs at the level his team needs.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\">\u201cIf he\u2019s given a more prominent role in an offense, like he would be in New England, we could see his best season yet, and as of right now, that was in 2023 when he logged over 700 receiving yards and six touchdowns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kmet has seen his production in Chicago decrease over the last two seasons due to a variety of reasons.
